Working hard on sourcing some beauty creams, I'm used to bannish products with

this kind of stuff... we are many small stores who are not trusting this

component, even if the organic label of my country agrees on the use of

benzoate sodium. If we took for granted all the stupid things merging from

french labels, it would be difficult to have a shop with good cosmetics. In

another way, we try hard not to get paranoid in another way

Recently, I've just seen on internet that people who are making their own

creams are getting crazy about this chemical stuff... a lot of forums,

informations about sourcing for not professionnal people, and so a good ad for

the cosmetics who are using it.

Did I missed something I should now about sodium benzoate, should I find better

informations ??

Or is it the start of some synth lobbying ???

TY in advance for all usefull informations, and sorry for my not native English

(horrible today, I can't wake up)

Hi ,

As far as I can gather, there is a growing awareness that sodium benzoate is bad

in food and drinks, because when it combines with vitamin C it forms benzene,

which is known to cause cancer! So by reckoning, it shouldn't be in beauty

creams either, I think you're right to be suspicious. Maybe the chemical

companies are looking for some other place to sell their nasty concoctions other

than food, now that they've been rumbled. Anyway I wouldn't use it, it is a

chemical, and it seems that the term " organic " has got very stretchy these days!

Hope this helps,

xxx

Thanx for your answer, I could not believe that something nasty like that

when eaten would not be nasty too on our skin, I believe in the precautionary

principle.
