I did have my thryoid removed in July 2009 and since they I vary extremely. this last testing is the worst though for me. with tsh norms of 0.30 to 5.0 on dec 13 it was 5.5. on Feb 22 it has changed to 45.9 while on armour thryoid 115 mg. Pam Every 8 weeks seems excessive. So I am sure I would disagree with everything in a endocrine textbook! Not sure WHAT they are doing in med school other then making a lot of uneducated endo's. Always, her TSH was normal (2.2), but her FT3 was way below normal and her FT4 was just below the bottom of normal. One grain of Armour and she's a sponsored triathlete. She represented the U.S. last summer in Australia. Prior to Armour, she never went a day without a nap. Throughout college, she slept in her car between classes. For her, TSH kept her ill for 24 years. BTW, " thyroid panel " has a different meaning to different people. I think there have been studies on that issue. I took 1/4 grain + T4 for a long time but finally went off the Armour. Invariably, it sent me into episodes of high BP, etc. I now take Cytomel + T4 and am doing much better with it. It has been successfully used for over 100 years. Many people do not convert T4 to T3 well and need some T3. Your standard tests don't even consider that lack of conversion.
