Guest guest
51F L adenoma 1.7 cm. Med. spiro 125/day, bp well controlled. Diagnosed PA December 2009 due to uncontrollable ht, low K, 1.3 cm L adenoma and positive response to spiro. Prior to spiro (started November 2009), K was 2.1, serum aldosterone was 44, plasma renin was 0.1. Now K 4.4 and feeling healthy; bp about 125/85. I am scheduled for a re-test of saline suppression and other bloodwork -a previous saline test (Dec. 2010) showed unexpectedly that I responded as normal, so AVS was not indicated - I was off spiro for six weeks and taking Verapamil and Lisinopril instead. So the retest is coming up in May; doctors want me to be off spiro for two months in advance. I want to be sure that the alternative bp med I will take will not interfere with results. They are recommending Verapamil. Is this the best substitute - will it definitely not interfere? I will also be careful about salt intake of course. Thanks.
