Guest guest
Last time I was at my orthopedic doc, about 2 years ago, he suggested I have a tendon transfer on my left foot. He also said he could fuse my big toe because it just drops down when I walk and at this point I can't lift it at all and it is making it very hard for me to get around. It took me a while to decide on having the surgery but I now realize that this will not improve on its own so if there is anything I can do to help my foot function better I am wiling to do it, my right foot doesn't give me any trouble at this time. I have two questions. One, Has anyone had a tendon transfer in adulthood? I am 38. It seems that most people have had this done in childhood but I could be wrong. When I saw my doc he said I am a canidate for a tendon transfer but its 2 years later and I hope I still am. The other thing that I was wondering about was why alot of people here dont seem to have had surgery. Is it not an option for everyone or is it just that surgery is always a risk and most people would just rather deal with the CMT in their ways? Im really new to this and I am so thankful for all the info here and Gretchen thank you for all you do! Pam
