Guest guest
Dr. G- what if DASH and spiro only control BP but not all the other symptoms? like SOB, inability to exercise, anxiety, irritability, fatigue, muscle cramps, urination 13-15 times per day? are you then thinking AVS is okay? I fall into this in between category...... just wondering what your opinion is I value what you are saying and what I have learned from you greatly!! thanks, shannon m M. Guest guest
DASH and spiro should control BP and K and symptoms related to low K.If not then you are not likely really DASHing. Ask your Dr. to collect a 24 hr urine for Na and K to see if you are DASHing. How much spiro? We go up to 400 per day as a test.Would also try Inspra.CE Grim MD Dr. G- what if DASH and spiro only control BP but not all the other symptoms? like SOB, inability to exercise, anxiety, irritability, fatigue, muscle cramps, urination 13-15 times per day? are you then thinking AVS is okay? Guest guest
Or the Longer you are on DASH/Spiro the better your BP GETS. CE grim MD Tiped sad Send form miiPhone ;-)May your pressure be low!CE Grim MDSpecializing in DifficultHypertension , I DASHED to the point where the amount of sodium in my urine was too low to quantitate. I still had BP about 155/90. 150 mg spiro brought my BP to goal. While DASHING and spiro dealt with the BP, nothing else got better for me. My "brittle" (your symptoms) continued unabated. Finally, I was diagnosed with Lyme and a couple co-infections. With treatment for those, I'm getting my life back. I honestly think that Lyme has seriously distorted my endocrine picture for many years as I've had one endocrine issue after another. I'm now on about 38 mg of spiro (75 mg Inspra). The longer I am treated for Lyme, the better my BP gets. Guest guest
I no longer avoid salt like I did. At one point, I wouldn't eat a slice of bread or a hamburger bun. Staying at about 800 mg Na doesn't allow for that. I still do not over-indulge but I'm probably at around 1,500 mg/d. Guest guest
Yeah, 800 mg/d of Na is hardly DASHing. Even at that, I couldn't get below 155/90. Guest guest
Excellent. Guest guest
I am on 150 of spiro and 80 meq of K+ and that with DASHing seems to be helping most of the time..... I have to be careful of dehydration despite drinking over a gallon of water a day..... I bet you are right though, Dr. Grim, that I am cheating on the DASHing so I finally ordered the book I go to Boston in 5 weeks.....hopefully they can test me there....my doc here is great but nervous about doing anything else with me right now since I am so " brittle " and sensitive > > > > > > Dr. G- what if DASH and spiro only control BP but not all the other symptoms? like SOB, inability to exercise, anxiety, irritability, fatigue, muscle cramps, urination 13-15 times per day? > > > > > > > > are you then thinking AVS is okay?
