OT: EU to ban medicinal herbs

Most of my friends and colleagues here are either lovers of

natural

perfumes, natural perfumers, artisan perfumers or just

folks who like a

more natural, independent way of life and who don't want

any more

regulations on our products. Is the EU going to spread its

insanity

over here via Global Harmonization or sympathetic

politicians? You have

to be aware of what's happening, you have to be an activist

for

yourself. Take charge and push back.

Sadly it is already here in the U.S.; the good manufacturing practices act (GMP)

enacted several years ago went into full effect this year. It requires a level

of testing and paperwork on herbal products (like tinctures) that makes it

impossible for most of us to sell beyond to our immediate clients, without

violating the law and opening ourselves to FDA-initiated charges. The larger

herb companies like HerbPharm have invested and are now certified. Most of my

U.S. friends have taken their tinctures and other green medicine preparations

off the market.

As Anya says, push back and please do that sooner rather than later.

the only other option as distasteful as this is to me personally is actually

signing up with some of the MLM companies who have the bucks and lawyers behind

them to sell their product..its the best of the worst case scenario but I

believe strongly enough about what I make and have made for over 25 years I'd

consider doing that so I could cma.....my closest friends of course will still

gain benefit and I'm fortunate to have a former employer who compounds natural

products and is a pharmacist who can legally recommend a complete regime.

Most folks wont have that option.
