Guest guest
Hi Amy, When discontinuing Neurontin, it is advised by both docs and pharmacists to back down off of it slowly, the opposite of how one starts taking it. I started it with 300 mg a day, so a few days later was up to 900. When I wanted to discontinue it, I backed down off of it, slowly, from 900 to 600 for a few months, then after a few weeks went to 300 for 2 weeks, then I was off of it. I didn't have any withdrawal problems like this, nor did I have the wierd electrical pain return. I don't know how much you were taking, but a sudden stoppage of Neurontin might be a problem. Neurontin works on GABA in the brain, and yes, it does work on 'brain chemistry'. I'm sure you'll be fine, hope you'll stay in touch with your doc about this and drink lots of water so the N can thoroughly get flushed out. ~ Gretchen
