Guest guest
Hi Vicky, Boy have I been there!!! Anyone who saw me at the Autism conference last year will surely vouch for the fact that I was dying. Even had to stop the car on the way home to be sick. So basically, I know where you are coming from. Mine are definately partly food related, heridetary too. Anyway, the first thing that I found out was that I had a very low iron count. Started eating iron rich food and occasional iron supplement and it helped. However, when I did get them I still had them for three days and could not cope. Then, about three months ago, whilst I was ordering supplements from Scotland for when having one of my terrible migraine days, I happened to mention it. They recommended a herb called Butterbur Petasin which they sell in capsule form. It has been properly tested with good results. I was so desperate that I ordered it. Well, I haven't looked back since. You are supposed to start with three a day but I have found that if I take one as soon as I start to get a migraine it either makes it go away or dulls it considerably. Occasionally I still need to take my strong migraine tablet, but it goes away and doesn't reappear on the second day. One thing I would say if you try it though, do take it with food. I found that taking it without doesn't do the kidneys much good. Hope you get to try this as migraines are SOooooo miserable.
Guest guest
Hi , where do you order butterbur from? I wonder if it has some similar effects to stuff in CLO? natasa > > Hi Vicky, > > Boy have I been there!!! Guest guest
I suffered with severe migraines, that were like mini strokes, I lost my speech every time and it would take me days to relearn to talk, I would lose sight in one eye and lose sensation all down one side of my body, as well as being hit over the head with a hammer every two seconds. >>OMG Risca this sounds really really scarey - I'm glad you found something to help and extra glad I don't have migranes! Guest guest
Hi, I suffered with severe migraines, that were like mini strokes, I lost my speech every time and it would take me days to relearn to talk, I would lose sight in one eye and lose sensation all down one side of my body, as well as being hit over the head with a hammer every two seconds. Doctor had tried me on several different medications, including beta blockers, but the only one that had any effect was a drug that made me sleep for most of the time! However, about 5 years ago I was looking into 5HTP for autism and found this tiny paragraph which said it could also be good for migraines. I started taking it 5 years ago and I have gone from having regular debilitating migraines, to being totally migraine free for the last 5 years. If I forget to take 5HTP for a couple of days, I can soon start to feel the beginning of one, but that soon reminds me to take them! 5HTP has really been a godsend, I couldn't manage without it.
