I cannot take betablockers and calcium channel blockers - they increase my blood pressure to 220/120. So, I am now on 80 mg of micardis twice a day, 10 mg of lisinopril once a day and 0.25 mg of clonidine. I still have two-three times a day spikes of BP about 200/100. I know that in a hospital they didn't find any aldo in my blood. My 24 hours urine test showed PLASMA RENIN ACTIVITY 0.36ALDOSTERONE 1.9 It seems normal, but I suffer absolutely all symptoms of hyperaldosteronism. I never ate licorice and didn't hear about it never in my life. I would be happy to read your article. Could you please, give me a title and link to it? I appreciate your help very much. I feel all the same symptoms that you described here. For last 3 months I was three times in the hospital for more than three weeks, but they didn't find hormones neither in my blood nor in my 24 urine test. Now I am looking for a good knowledgeable in Coon's syndrome endocrinologist.Could anybody recommend me such a doctor in Pittsburgh, PA or vicinities?I would appreciate it greatly. I am 66 years old, my English is far from perfect, I am also diabetic, I live alone and I am extremely scared, frustrated and almost paralized in my efforts to do anything. Thank you very much for you help. Natasha Kamneva

Guest guest
There is no estimate of the sodium intake (Na measured in the urine that I can see).So they low renin and very low aldo may just be from eating way too much salt or she has a rare cause of HTN such as Liddle's syndrome or AME. Too much salt would be most likely ask if they did a urine Na.CE Grim MDThis is the lab information for NATALIA the 66 f Russian decent. 12/19/2010 12:31 KAMNEVA,NATALIA Y (66Y) F DR: RAJUPET, KAMALA A MD ====================================================================~========================== CRIT =CRITICAL * =NON-NUMERIC ABNORMAL L =LOW H =HIGH =============================================================================================== W50216 COLL: 12/15/2010 12:00 REC: 12/15/2010 12:02 PHYS: RAJUPET, KAMALA CATECHOLAMINES FREE 24U EPINEPHRINE, U 1 [bN] Reference range: Undefined Unit: ug/L EPINEPHRINE, 24U 2 [bN] Reference range: 0 to 20 Unit: ug/24 hr NOREPINEPHRINE, U 15 [bN) Reference range: Undefined Unit: ug/L NOREPINEPHRINE,24U 31 [bN] Reference range: 0 to 135 Unit: ug/24 hr DOPAMINE, U 95 [bN] Reference range: Undefined Unit: ug/L DOPAMINE, 24U 199 [bN] Reference range: 0 to 510 Unit: ug/24 hr TOTAL VOLUME 2090 [bN] = Performed at Labcorp Burlington 1447 York Court Burlington, NC 27215 W50226 COLL: 12/15/2010 12:00 REC: 12/15/2010 12:02 PHYS: RAJUPET, KAMALA METANEPHRINES, FRAC, 24U NORMETANEPHRINE, UR NORMETANEPHRINE 24U 80 Reference range: Undefined Unit: ug/L NORMETANEPHRINE 24U 167 Reference range: 110 to 1050 Unit: ug/24 hr METANEPHRINE UR 33 Reference range: Undefined Unit: ug/L METANEPHRINES, FRAC, 24U (CONTINUED) METANEPHRINE 24U 69 Reference range: 35 to 460 Unit: ug/24 hr CORTISOL, 24 URINARY FREE CORTISOL,F,UR 22 Reference range: Undefined Unit: ug/L CORTISOL,F,24U 46 Reference range: 0 to SO Unit: ug/24 hr TOTAL VOLUME 2090 12/20/2010 09:33 CREATININE, URINE QUANT. Guest guest
I don't eat too much salt. I don't eat salt at all. When I was hospitalized in November my sodium was very low. It was 26. They put IV with sodium and gave me a very salty food. When I was discharged my sodium still was 33 -lower than normal 35.To: hyperaldosteronism Cc: Clarence Grim Sent: Mon, January 3, 2011 12:21:05 PMSubject: Re: Re: Cry for help -- 66, F There is no estimate of the sodium intake (Na measured in the urine that I can see).So they low renin and very low aldo may just be from eating way too much salt or she has a rare cause of HTN such as Liddle's syndrome or AME.
