What can I give instead of codliver oil.Is it flax seed ? Need some Vit A aswell,we have a suitable Vit D.

>>Flax has omega 3's but not vitamin A I don't think. I have some Twinlabs Allery A & D here if you want to try her on that. Vitamin A is Retinol Acetate. Let me know

We use cool oil, don't know anyone else using it but it is well tolerated here.

cannot have fish oils at all, tried them all, from eye q through to Krill.

The cool oil has organic flax, hemp, EPO, and pumpkin the omega's are in 2-1 ratio.

About £7 for 250ml. We were also using VitA+D from MandiMart, that was excellent and am now reminded to order some more.

Are you sure it was the cod? I know that with some fish they tend to preserve with sulfites. Shrimps are definately preserved with E numbers.

Best to fish your own. ( Just kidding!)

-Hi ,

It was bought fresh as far as I can tell ,and had been in the

freezer for about a week. I'd thoroughly defrosted it and baked it

plainly . the reaction came on 2 hrs following when she was in the

bath, very scarey hives ,facial swelling and stridor .

I wondered if it had something to do with amines,as she has taken

cod liver oil and NAG for several years without apparent

problems. Now I'm scared she's sensitised so can't give them again.

Thanks Sharon .

-Thanks Vicky for the link for cool oil.

I'll get some of this and just rub it on her first to make sure

she's OK with it.

Hi Sharon,

Eddie is anaphylactic (heart attack type not throat swelling) to

wheat and egg white and reacts on contact. His reactions are 1 hour

delayed. We are planning to try EPD and are learning kinesiology.

You could do some IgE testing to look for reactions - these aren't

totally reliable but still often useful if you want cluse about

similar types of food.

I wanted to say - Careful with skin tests - just do one small one

early in the day (plenty of time to watch for reactions.)

Best wishes,

Sandy

Hi Sandy,

We have had IGE testing at GOSH and she was + 4 for wheat, cow's milk

and soy, also +2 for egg white.Don't know that they tested for

fish.We go on Monday to see them so I'll ask for some more testing. Is

EPD something that can be done via NHS.I've only just given this a

quick look over as I have been short of time over the past

days, maybe I could ask them about it's availability for Katy.

Last time she had a reaction like this was age 2 yrs during her

regression when she sniffed a medicated shampoo.

It's really made me sit up and be more vigilant regarding

allergies, they are so scarey and serious.
