Guest guest
I think I'll get my thyroid checked next trip to the doc. I have a sister with thyroid problems and my Mom did also. I try to stay at 1,200/cal a day and walk about 3x a week...for maybe 20 minutes at a time....probably need to increase it. Re: Female, 50 yo, bilateral hyperplasia - SPIRO WEIGHT GAIN how's your thyroid function ?I'm just saying that if you eat 1000 calories under par, you should be loosing 2pounds a week, unless you are in starvation mode < 1200 calories then you would store ALL your food.however 1000 under par even with water retention you would end up loosing weight, unless you are retaining half a sea and eating insane amounts of salt.So look for other causes, as stated before maybe hypothyroidsm.good luck >> Has anyone gained weight with Spiro? I'm just taking 50mg/daily for about 1-1/2 months now. When I was on this a few years ago (100 mg) I also gained weight and it messed with my periods. Any one else? Guest guest
Even hypothyroidism folks lose weight on 1200 calories. You should get and read the Physiology of Starvation by Ancel Keys.Starvation does markedly reduce thyroid function and BMR but folks still lose weight on 1200 calories and exercising.CE Grim MDOr HypothyroidismSent from my iPad The key is to write down EVERYTHING that goes into your mouth. **“I only eat 1200 calories per day and I can’t lose weight! Guest guest
I could just scream every time I hear this. I weighed 96 pounds after five children. After I got Lyme, one-by-one, I started having endocrine failures. The first failure was my thyroid, totally untreated for nine years while I put 55 pounds on my small frame. My doc finally started me on a very high dose of T4 for a few weeks and said the weight would fall off. Nothing fell. At one point, I spent five months, running/walking three miles/day and lifting three times/week. I recorded every morsel that went into my mouth and kept it at 800 - 1100 calories/day. At the end of five months, I had lost 1/2 pound. Kinda' destroys any incentive. Now that I am on Lyme treatment and added some T3, I have lost 24 pounds since last June. Not stellar but better than ever before. I don't know if it is the Lyme treatment or the T3 but whatever it is, I like it. I am a human being and am not just like every other human being.
