Guest guest
Federally-funded health centers care for you, even if you have no health insurance. You pay what you can afford, based on your income. Health centers provide checkups when you're well treatment when you're sick complete care when you're pregnant immunizations and checkups for your children dental care and prescription drugs for your family mental health and substance abuse care if you need it Health centers are in most cities and many rural areas. Type in your address and click the 'Find Health Centers' button to find health centers near you. http://findahealthcenter.hrsa.gov/Search_HCC.aspx One girl in my Lyme group gets everything she needs from a local clinic - everything my insurance denied a long time ago. The whole waiting room was filled with pregnant Mexican girls and their boyfriends with pants on the ground and hats on backwards. As they checked in, each indicated Medicaid as their " insurance. Guest guest
I worked since I was 13. I saw work as freedom. Loved what a paycheck gave me! Then as I was living in Ireland doing volunteer work and working full time- I started getting sick. Ended up back in USA and kept trying to work. Went from event coordinator picking up 50lb boxes with ease to driver to temp worker to self taught graphic artist. The last one because I could do it on good days, from my computer. Finally I couldn't even do that. I went into the human services office( welfare) I cried the whole time. You never think this will happen to you. The worst part of it is the prejudice of people who have never been in my situation. Half the time I buy groceries I get rude degrading coments from the check out clerk. But what are my choices? My best friends son says I should just be left to die because taxpayers shouldn't be left to take care of me. Charming fellow. I hate being on welfare but I have no choice. And I for sure am not living the high life off the govt. I have to choose between dr visits , meds , bills and food each month. I taketurns. I take half doses. But I keep on truckin as they say. Who knows maybe I'll get well. YOU are the one who welfare is designed for. a hard working taxpayer who puts into, and will again., the system. it was not designed for the person having multiple kids out of wedlock who refuses to stop (octomom is a good example) or the man addicted to meth who uses it for free money >I've been laid off just about 1-1/2 years and my COBRA just ran out.
