It's funny how fast from our hyperaldosteronism discussion one can figure out who is democrat and who is republican. As we have completely different point of view on almost everything. I agree, as always, with Dr. Grim. Rich should pay more taxes than those who are less fortunate. Thought that they work millions times harder to get their money is ridiculous. They, for example, make fortune from producing expansive drugs, and you should decide between food and drug. They robe you and they owe all of us money at least in the form of taxes, welfare for those who cannot work anymore and health insurance for everybody who is sick and hungry. I am pretty fortunate now, but I was once in these shoes and I never forget this humiliation. Don"t be ashamed to get any

assistance that can help you to survive and live normal productive life. I don't believe in God, but I am absolutely sure that's what Jesus Christ wanted for all of us - normal productive life.

Natalia,

while you're busy punishing success, should they pay more taxes and the same

rate, or a higher rate?  Who decides how

high the punishment rate should be?  I'm

sure you realize that a flat rate would still yield more taxes paid by the

" rich " ?  The only think I'm

aware of with " rich people " is that they gave me jobs.  You want everyone equally equal?

BTW,

no one owes you anything.  You are not

entitled to what I have earned.

I've never understood the mentality of don't tax rich people because they "might" create jobs. How about giving tax breaks to people if and when they create jobs, not just because they "might". The wealthy don't create jobs because they get tax breaks, supply and demand is what creates jobs. Warren Buffett and several other millionaires wanted the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy to be allowed to expire. As he says -

“If anything, taxes for the lower and middle class and maybe even the upper middle class should even probably be cut further,†Buffett said in an interview with ABC’s “This Week With Christiane Amanpour†that is scheduled to air on Nov. 28. “But I think that people at the high end -- people like myself -- should be paying a lot more in taxes. We have it better than we’ve ever had it. The rich are always going to say that, you know, just give us more money and we’ll go out and spend more and then it will all trickle down to the rest of you,†Buffett, chief executive officer of Berkshire Hathaway Inc., said in the interview. “But that has not worked the last 10 years, and I hope the American public is catching on.â€

I don't think anyone thinks they are entitled to what you have earned, no more than they are entitled to what little I've earned. However most of us do believe that we deserve something from the government for all the years we've paid income tax, besides planes, missiles, bombs and wars. Entering the 21st century with health care would be a nice start.

Just my opinion,

Francis,

the question is what I OWE anyone; it is not a question of what society CHOOSES

to do for people. I have no problem

with state and local social programs for the truly needy, although some would

argue that should be a private function.

I have a huge problem with the federal government continually

overstepping its Constitutional limits.

Too often, people confuse private charity, state or local programs, and

federal programs.

Letting

the Bush tax cuts expire would have meant a 50% tax increase for the

poorest.  What I don't understand is the

entitlement mentality.  No one is

entitled to what is mine, and I am not entitled to what is anyone else's.  Another thing I don't understand is why

people like Warren Buffett don't just pay more taxes if they think they should.

From

the federal government, we deserve expenditures to fulfill Constitutional mandates.  One of those enumerated mandates is national

defense.

It is THEIR money, not something GIVEN to them. What part of that is hard to understand? YOU give them nothing and have no right to decide what they get or who they have to give their money too. You want more, go make it like they did, don't say they should give more because you have less. You have less for a reason and not because of the rich. That does not give you the right to take something not yours. Last I checked that was stealing. They pay more literally and are in a higher tax bracket no matter the rumors you've heard on MSNBC or on the VIEW. They can afford good tax men to find ways to get breaks then good for them. You can say there is a "yacht" break in some states, well maybe so, then again someone who sits at home, does NOTHING because they want to watch TV STILL qualifies for earned income credit if they brought in $100 that year (when

they have the normal deductions). I get so irate that anyone thinks they have the right to spend someone elses hard earned money. Maybe politics is a good career since they do it every day.>> >> >I've been laid off just about 1-1/2 years and my COBRA just ran out. I have been denied twice for private insurance. Such a great point about Buffett or Soros, or even Al Gore, who's 2009 income was reported as 200 million!!! from his investments in global warming technology, oops climate change. , who made the film railing against big business and the "rich", took his special tax break for his businesses - the exact film to be correct, he made to preach against this, the same one he even mentioned as bad, to keep more of his money. When asked why he was such a hypocrite and took the thing he said was evil, he said because he "could". Classic. Words with zero conviction are nothing. But those mentioned are exactly that.

That is a tough question when hypocrisy is so rampant in our political system. There seems to be so much rhetoric, but these politicians are people living on tax money, driving in limo's, housing paid for, staff and servants, and they have lost all touch with us people. It seems so hard to pick out someone who can't be bought by someone for something. One way is to be honest ourselves, cheat no one, work hard I (if we can) for what we get, and praySubject: Re: InsuranceTo: hyperaldosteronism Date: Tuesday, March 1, 2011, 4:01 PM

I

bought a bread machine and used just a touch of salt in each loaf.  It tastes just fine.  This is the best barbeque sauce ever (except

it has high fructose corn syrup).

It

depends on what the " general welfare " is. Is it specific expenditure for specific

individuals or groups? How about

expenditures for especially vocal unions and lobbyists? For every federal program that

supposedly promotes the general welfare, even where there are multitudes of

programs to promote the same " welfare, " there is a crew of lobbyists

and others whose welfare has been considerably enhanced. Unfortunately, the whole concept of

" general welfare " has been seriously bastardized. People blame the " politicians "

but continue to ask for more and more.

Sounds like you're listing what politicians do

Some people are truly lazy, some want to party and take drugs, some beat their wives and have felonies, some molest children. etc, etc, etc. they lose jobs or cant get jobs because of personal decisions. the rich do not them a dime. there is a profound diffrence between unfortunate and less fortunate. do not to spend money that does not belong to you

I trust Warren Buffet who said that he pays taxes in percentage less than his secretary who gets $60,000 annually. It's not a flat rate.

And Val, of course, I am not entitled to what you earned.

But the salary of $52,000 an hour for some CEOs of health insurances is not earned, it is stollen from society. And golden parashutes are not earned. And most economists say that it's not reach people who give a job to you and me.

I'm sure you realize that a flat rate would still yield more taxes paid by the "rich"? The only think I'm aware of with "rich people" is that they gave me jobs. You want everyone equally equal?

It's funny how fast from our hyperaldosteronism discussion one can figure out who is democrat and who is republican. As we have completely different point of view on almost everything.
