Guest guest
Vitamin D and drug interactions: Several medications can interact with vitamin D. Check with your medical provider before you add vitamin D supplements to your diet if you are taking any medications, especially: Anti-seizure medications, such as phenobarbital (Luminal), primidone (Mysoline) or valproic acid (Depakene, Depakote) Calcium-channel blockers, such as Cardizem (diltiazem) and Norvasc (amlodipine) Corticosteroids, such as prednisone Older cholesterol-lowering medications that interfere with fat metabolism, such as cholestyramine (Questran) Thiazide diuretics, such as Diuril (chlorothiazide) and Enduron (methyclothiazide), which could cause high calcium levels X en ica l or(listat) (over-the-counter known as Alli) Ref: Vitamin D and Menopause

Guest guest
In my experience, most of them don't know anything. Hyperaldosteronism is just a word, and they have never treated a patient with it. When you say Dash Diet or low salt diet, they shrug their shoulders and say maybe. That is the sad state of our medical system - 5 minutes to explain to your doctor your symptoms, and then they try to treat the symptoms and they never get to the cause. So Dr. Grim, I would appreciate it if you'd stop telling me to ask my doctor. I have several of them, and I always ask them before posting on here, and if they knew the answer and it was correct, I would not be asking on here. You answer every question I ask with: "Ask your doctor and DASH"Stop telling me that once and for all. I am smart enough not to be told more than once and I am already aware of these things. If you don't have anything additional to add to my questions, please do not answer them. I'll leave it for the other members of this group.>> based on my doc, I say: Even your dr may not know! Guest guest
I tend to think a decent vitamin D level is advantageous, but enough sunshine for most is not attainable. The Vitamin D Council has lots of research in one location. If Vitamin D increases BP, you would know it if you take a daily reading and average it over a few days. Lyme treatment has dropped my med level by 75%. I didn't notice any increase with Vitamin D. My Lyme doc has me on 5,000 IU and that gives me a perfect number. It varies between 53 and 76. BTW, I'm getting liver tests every two weeks. You'd be amazed that the variance between labs. One hospital lab had a 30% variance depending on the location. Guest guest
Hi, I don't know much about these minerals/vitamins and their effect on hyperaldosteronism, but I do know that anytime you supplement vitamin D you also want to supplement magnesium. Supplementing vitamin D alone will "eat up" all your magnesium. Vitamin D might also have the same effect on calcium but I do not know if this is true or not.I personally supplement vitamin D and magnesium but not calcium. In my opinion magnesium is of great importance in many bodily functions and lacking in our diet/food supply.Good luck to you.Sent from my iPad My deficiency of Vitamin D may not be from diet nor from low sun exposure.I am asking these 3 questions if anybody knows the answers:1. Do I need to take a vitamin D supplement?2. How can I know if I need Calcium and Magnesium supplement?3. What effect will increasing these vitamins and minerals have on my blood pressure and hyperaldosteronism? Please reply. This article Vitamin D deficiency in primary aldosteronismhttp://www.thefreelibrary.com/Vitamin+D+deficiency+in+primary+aldosteronism*-a0144298842suggests: Of interest, the presence of vitamin D deficiency in salt-sensitive hypertension of primary aldosteronism suggests that primary aldosteronism might have a role in inducing vitamin D deficiency. and This article Aldosteronism & Vitamin D Deficiencyhttp://www.livestrong.com/article/167327-aldosteronism-vitamin-d-deficiency/ suggests:A study in the December 2008 "Journal of the American College of Cardiology" reported that vitamin D deficiency is prevalent in approximately 30 to 50 percent of the general population and because it is associated with the elevation of renin, angiotensin 2 and aldosterone levels it is a risk factor for hypertension and other cardiovascular dysfunctions.and There is little evidence that supports vitamin D deficiency directly causes aldosteronism. However, a case report published in the Dec. 1, 2006, "Southern Medical Journal" noted that the two conditions have occurred in an individual simultaneously.
