Guest guest
I have been on a potassium supplement (potassium chloride 20 MEQ) for a month and my K has gone from 2.9 to 3.7 (actually did that in three weeks). I have been drinking lots of fresh fruit and veggie juice and avoiding salt like the plague. Also tried low sodium V8 and have been drinking that.My bp was 117/76 this am. Happy about that but just feeling very nauseous about an hour after eating. Has anyone else had problems with K causing tummy trouble? Also, my pulse rate has gone from about 60 to 75 in the last month.Had MRI Friday and today endo surgeon told me does not look like an adenoma, but a nodule - probably hyperplasia, plus dr. didn't think he could do adrenelectomy even if it was unilateral --organs were too intertwined with each other. How is an adenoma different from a nodule? Will do a 4 hour salt suppression to get definitive diagnosis. , WF, 5kids, Marine wife, PA diagnosed in 2007 L nodule, no meds at this point. Guest guest
My K tabs tend to cause stomach problems for me if I take them without a protein-centric meal, so you might want to try doing that if you aren't already. I eat half of my meal, take the pill, then eat the rest - seems to be working for me. Excess fructose in the body can cause gastrointestinal discomfort. The " fresh fruit and veggie juice " could be the culprit too. > > I have been on a potassium supplement (potassium chloride 20 MEQ) for a month and my K has gone from 2.9 to 3.7 (actually did that in three weeks). Guest guest
The pills are the most likely culprit and depending how much you are taking recall that one cup of low Na spicy V-8 is 25 mM K.Also spiro causes some GI distress in some. So spread them out bid or tid. CE Grim MDMy K tabs tend to cause stomach problems for me if I take them without a protein-centric meal, so you might want to try doing that if you aren't already. Guest guest
, When I was on potassium suppl. I experienced the nauseous feelings. I found that if I laid down for 30 - 45 mins. I could get up and feel just fine. May be worth a try if you are somewhere you can do that. Regarding your " intertwined organs " , I'm not sure what he was talking about. I met with a surgeon last week looking at a right adrenelectomy. He gave me the go ahead and said he would do it laproscopacly but there was one precondition. Because of my obesity my liver would be hard and in the way so I would have to go on a very strict diet for 2 and only 2 weeks. Then it would be softened up and he could move it and the operation would be a " piece of cake " . (He said the results of the diet were so dramatic that he could tell within 5 minutes of his first incission whether it had been followed and if it hadn't, he would simply close you back up!) I took it he knew what he was talking about, he indicated he averaged 15 andrenal glands per year and his main occupation involved obesity and lap band operations. (He said you would starve-to-death up here in northern New England if you just specialized on adrenelectomies!) As a side note, I know someone was talking about looking for doctors at DHMC (Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center) in Lebanon/Hanover, N.H. I'll give an update in a day or two when I get a moment and can figure out where to send it! > > > > I have been on a potassium supplement (potassium chloride 20 MEQ) for a month and my K has gone from 2.9 to 3.7 (actually did that in three weeks). Guest guest
I appreciate the info about lying down. I homeschool five kids under 11 so lying down after taking it is not much of an option. The endo surgeon I spoke with does three to four adrenelectomies a month so I think he has experience. Really not wanting to go the surgery route if I can help it. I am not overweight so I don't think that would be a factor. Thank you for the info though. I have learned so much from this board., , When I was on potassium suppl. I experienced the nauseous feelings. I found that if I laid down for 30 - 45 mins. I could get up and feel just fine.
