Guest guest
Hi I was hoping to get some advice. We started giving Luke metabolics multi-vit - which I purposely chose as it seemed a lower strength one as I was afraid he would react to a stronger multi-vit like Super Nuthera. I started on 1 small cap (the dose was 3 caps) - saw some reaction so stopped for a week and then started again with 1/4 cap. Again after about a week he started reacting again (I think to the multi-vit) even though it is a really small dose and a few days the reaction got so bad (big temper tantrums, very controlling, very anxious and getting frightened of things that normally don't bother him etc) that we stopped the multi-vit again. Yesterday was the first day without the multi vit and he was awful in the morning but by the afternoon he was so much better and seemed much happier. So today we thought we were out of the woods - but we have had a morning where he was really grizzly and this afternoon we have seen the worse melt-downs we have ever had and extermely controlling. Have other people had similar experiences? Does it take more than a day for the multi-vits to get out of his system? Could it be something else - Luke is always fighting against yeast and bacterial problems? I know at the end of the day it is hard to say what it is - but I am hoping for some re-assurance that by tomorrow this behaviour will subside. I also intend to increase his probiotics tonight just in case it is bacterial (as that can cause aggression). His anxiety is quite a new thing - with familiar things - like the heating clicking off can completely spook him. Other things recently is that he has been waking very early morning (around 4am) and not going back to sleep - so I don't know if that is a sign of reaction to the multi-vit or something else. Anyway - any feedback would be very much appreciated. Thanks Nicola Mum of Luke
Guest guest
Has he been on any kind of multi before? He may be reacting to one of the ingredients though Metabolics use only high quality stuff and no fillers........ If he is not used to having B vits it might be those feeding some yeast? Guest guest
Nicola, We had a very bad reaction to several different multivits and one of them took 3 days to get over the really bad screamyness. He'd been on it for about 10 days though I think. He even reacted to drops of Brainchild Ultrasensitive...it was so depressing! He doesn't get a multivit now, just a scoop or two of Ultracare (a powdered protein rice drink) that has a wide range of vits in it. I've never worked out what he couldn't tolerate but the level of his tantrums and rigidity was extreme when he was on them. Take heart, he did eventually get over it. Good luck Darla Hi I was hoping to get some advice. Guest guest
hi nicola, we kind of had a simular experience the first time we tryed shane of metabolics we had what we thought to be a reaction hyperactivity really which we now realise was just gut bugs again with my son waking early at night tends to be yeast related, aggressive behaviors tend to be other bad bacteria, we have tried a couple of things first thing was we used the rice based protein drink ultracare for kids as a multivit shane loved that, then when we had further problems we switched to Kirkmans Multivitamin and minerals for children we used this for about 6-8 months it is very basic though, we just went back to metabolics a few months ago and shane seems fine now but we also use gse and OoO for gut bugs and scd is really helping all this. also have you tried activated charcoal might help you detrimine whether it is gut bugs as i find if a behavior is due to gut bugs it decreases if only a little with this supplement, only other suggestions is take the metabolics out for a few days see what happens. good luck melissaxx --- Nicola Trotman wrote: > Hi > > I have had no reply to my email - would really > appreciate any advice of someone who has had > similiar experience! > > Thanks > Nicola > > > Re: Re: > Reaction to multi-vit > > > > Hi > > I was hoping to get some advice. Guest guest
Hi Mandi No he has never been on a multi-vit before. He is currently taking B6 (P5P) and MB12. I am wondering whether his reaction is a combination of both - a reaction to the multi-vits and yes - something that is feeding his yeast/bacteria problem. I have stopped the multi-vit and have increased his probs and sacc bol and candex. Also giving Oregan grape root and GSE. Fingers crossed we have a better day. Thanks Mandi Nicola - > > From: Mum231ASD@... > Date: 2007/11/01 Thu AM 08:27:46 GMT > To: Autism-Biomedical-Europe > Subject: Re: Re: Reaction to multi-vit > > Has he been on any kind of multi before? > > He may be reacting to one of the ingredients though Metabolics use only high > quality stuff and no fillers........ > > If he is not used to having B vits it might be those feeding some yeast? > > Mandi x > > > > > > ----------------------------------------- Email sent from www.virginmedia.com/email Virus-checked using McAfee® Software and scanned for spam
Guest guest
Hi Thanks for your reply - yes I think you are right it does seem to be a bacteria / yeast issue. Luke has reacted to vits before but never like this - which I suppose does tell me it's something else. Guest guest
Hi Darla Interesting - this sounds very familiar. Luke had been on the multi-vit for over a week - so I think it is almost a build up of whatever he is reacting to. Well it was 2 days ago we stopped it - so hopefully by tomorrow he will feel better. The main reason I wanted him to have mult-vits was for the other B vits that he doesn't have - so I might try and supplement these seperately. Thanks Darla Nicola > > From: rexel45@... > Date: 2007/11/01 Thu AM 08:46:09 GMT > To: Autism-Biomedical-Europe > Subject: Re: Re: Reaction to multi-vit > > > Nicola, > We had a very bad reaction to several different multivits and one of them > took 3 days to get over the really bad screamyness.
