Guest guest
Male 35, BMI 32,8, ARR >80 On 3 medications note the average of 140/90( +-13.69/+-10.74) with systolic pressure escaping well over 170 and diastolic pressure escaping way over 110mmhg on some cases.Cardiac Frequency on the same medications, notice that it scaped to 120 3 times, normally it stayed around 80. (average 80 +-15 ) This sample is of 50 values taken on a period from sept 17 till sept 23. Using Spiro (25mg am , 25mg pm ) Ok on only spiro I'm around 130/90, but one of the interesting parts is that my bp has not escaped to the 170 range it has scaped to 155 tops, and the diastolic was a bit high, but it has been coming down, I think that the diastolic a bit high around 90, that now is coming down is because of "rebound" effect of the amlodipine, or I think that's a reasonable explanation. ( this samples where taken from October 6 till October 9 )DATANEW: ON SPIRO 130/90 (+-9.7/+-8.07) OLD: 3 MEDICATIONS 140/90( +-13.69/+-10.74)As you can clearly see there has been a decrease of 10/0 mmg/hg in BP , but not only that the standard deviation felled 4 points, on systolic pressure and on diastolic pressure 2 points, that basically means that the pressure now is more controlled it "wanders off " a lot less, than what it used toAnd My heart rate using spiro You can see it has scaped to over 120 several times actually it has gone to 130, but I think that's due to the abrupt stop of atenolol, so I went back to taking approximately 6.5mg of atenolol per day to taper it off, around the sample 20, and it has been lower. Now I see it was a bad idea to just stop Atenolol cold turkey, even it being only 25mg/am, but it seems that I am very VERY sensitive to atenolol, other people would have never ever even had changes like this but I did, so I'm gonna taper it off a bit slower. Also you have to consider my anxiety/panic problem into this since it can cause tachycardia.Average: 90 (+-14)So to recapitulate, we moved from 3 medications: Terazosine 2mg/0.5mg amlodipine/Atenolol 25 mg, to 1 medication basically, Spironolactone ( and still 6.5mg of atenolol because it seems that I have hypersensitivity and withdrawal symptoms )Ok after this change we have seen this:1- A decrease in BP of 10/0 mmhg, and a decrease of the standard deviation of 4/22- An increase of HR of 10bpm that seems more related with giving up atenolol. So in this case where it was biochemically established that there is a form of PA, spiro is handling the hypertension better than the cocktail of 3 medications, because of this response, it seems to also corroborate the fact that there's indeed PA, ARR 80.Now it takes around 15 days for spiro to make full effect so this numbers one would hope be better.I started the first 3 days with on 25mg of spiro, then Dr Grim told me that it could be raised to 50mg ( 25 am/25pm )On my first report I wrote this:Male 35, BMI 32,8 today is my third day on spiro 25mg, I'm taking it in the morningso this is what has changed so far: 1-I'm urinating a lot less, and more concentrated,I used to urinate around 2.7Lto 3L a day, now it seems I'm hardly making 1L or less (interesting consideringthis is a diuretic, but this effect started when I started dashing )2-the first day I was less anxious ( day 2 and 3 I have been the same on anxietyor a bit more )3-The blood pressure stays very good but during the morning.. at night it startsincreasing. ( day 130/90 night 150-160/100)4-cardiac frequency has been low to normal, but I have not given up the smalldose of beta blockers I take. ( 25mg atenolol )------------So I can still report this:1-Urinating has gone down3-Anxiety seems to have been the same except for periods of tranquility during the day, and that is not normal for me ( the anxiety assessment is not done with any instruments, it's a personal assessment)4-BP is around 120/85 most of the day it fluctuates to 140-150/100 during nights mostly.5-When I gave up the beta blockers I started having tachycardia ( up to 130bpm )6-I have not done a determination of serum potassium but based on EKGs there are no significant changes that would indicate a dangerous increase of potassium7-I have had muscle cramps in my back ( upper back ), my thighs , and other parts of the body, they hurt a bit but they are not important (I guess it's a side effect of the Spiro )8-I have had some diarrhea, no idea if this is important but I'll still report it.9-Just as a note during this whole change I have had a cold, however I have not taken any cold medication except for 4 nasal administrations of 32micrograms of bunesonide. When I reach 15 days I'll re-post how it goes, now I was advised by another member of the group that magnesium could help with the crams so I'm going to start taking some centrum for that. Thank you for reading. RS
