Guest guest
I just finished preparing my Civet tincture. I used the method based on Piesse's book which called for rubbing 1 oz Civet Paste with 1 oz Orris Root powder to separate the paste and blending it into 1 gallon of alcohol (I did it in grams though). I'll now let it macerate for a month and strain. I also used 1 gram and tried to perform the tincture via Profumo's method which called for heating the alcohol and letting the paste dissolve but I must have done something wrong because I ended up with a very cloudy blend. The cloud is now sitting toward the bottom of the bottle. I like the idea of the first method more since from what I can tell the Civet tincture will also have a slight orris note which I think blends wonderfully with the Civet and it seems as if the orris powder lessens the initial fecal note you get from the Civet. I've uploaded the blended tincture to the photos gallery (under Tinctures) and I've also uploaded the Tincture (already filtered) of the Goat Hair I recently strained.
