Guest guest
Re: Distilling Lavender in Oregon I am in essential oil business longer than 20 years, invested in distilling Helicrysum italicum in Croatia, special story, but this is the first year I distilled Lavender on my own in a copper A limbic distillations , copper I bought last year in Portugal ( Also this information I got here ) and all this happened because I am member of this group already longer than a year so I really learned a lot here, gained a lot of energy which give me final push to actually go and distill. Last year when I started to distill for the first time I realized that welding job was done less than adequate so I have to sent the still back to whole seller to mend it It was really specially, friend of mine Alena is living close to the beach here in Slovenia so she invited me to distill her lavender, I will have to check moor to tell exactly which botanical variety this is. So the first day there was seven people helping preparing Lavender herb. When I arrived on location, flowers with rather long stem cca 0,5 m or longer or shorter were cut into smaller peaces cca 3 cm each give or take. Interesting is that the first day there was very small amount of essential oil produced floating on the top of glass year where I was collecting Hidrosol . The second day and the third day I produced cca 40 ml of oil each day in a 60 liter distilling unit. Both these two days I was collecting flowers by myself together with friend and Alenka with much more Lavender flowers included than the first batch and colour of the oil was very dark yellow the second day ( Amber like ). There is so many technical questions, how long to distill, how to prepare plant , material, son said that cutting them the way we did , did gain no extra essential oil.......................I will go on with story next time. Guest guest
Huge hug to you Dara, are you living there in California long time, permanently or ............I believe we are going to met at some point, maby on one of these distilling workshops I am preparing myself to attend and " for sure, for sure " I am going to make me come on some. This summer I focused to do distilling on my own and there is a lot of women and man interested on this art when I am presenting still on various fairs across the country. So is interested to see how people have to be remembered how to distill even though this was done here in Slovenia before wars a lot. For example close to place where we live in Idrija , is town with name Logatec ( long ) used to be huge distilling unit for distilling Spruce cones, famillie who was distilling after the second WW moved to Austria because they were not exactly sure how new government is going to treat private sector. Instead of producing Hidrolat and essetial oil people here, especially farmers are more into producing alcohol beverage so that have to be told that with similar equipment you can produce also Essential oils and Hidrolats and than this is totally new story for them as that I am telling story about life in Venus or better jet on Jupiter because this planet is far enough to bring so much astonishment on their faces. I am telling you is really interesting doing all this different king of activities but brings hapyines into my heart because I see that it started to move, so I am enthusiastic for the second time, first happened down in Croatia 15 years back when I started to motivate people to start gathering Helicrysum and thay did and as I read already before on this list the biggest quantities of Helicrysum was collected by women down in Croatia and I met at that point with special women energy. Once I wanted to harvest Helicrysum together with them so that I will see how much involvement does it take, and you know what...........ladies it their 80 es were able to carry up to100 kg on their back, this mens that load was heavier than them. And I learned again about the women endurance. I love this plant, my car is soaked in the smell of Helicrysum oil and plant which I collected in Pula , Istria, Croatia this year, my car rear friends is less that perfect but everybody say it smalls very nice. You all be in joy, it seems that moon is rising and me with it. I have leaned on the therapeutic power of croatian helichrysum oil through many a difficult time in my life over the last few years...it always helps me so much...mind body and spirit. I have used the oil specifically to help me endure hard times, and so to read of the elder women harvesting really moved me. How lovely to hear about the harvesting of the plants and the remembering of the art of distillation - the discovery is still so exciting and new to me - I can feel the same excitement you feel. Thank you for your good work...all around the world croatian helichrysum oil heals..anyone I love has a bottle of it somewhere! Kindly, Jess Ring Green Ring Botanicals email:mother_ring@...
