Orthostatic hypertension is an underappreciated but potentially

clinically important entity. Orthostatic hypertension is defined

simply as an increase in blood pressure upon assumption of upright

posture.

I haven't experienced this, but I have low blood pressure and when I go in,

they tend to put me in all kinds of positions to try to get me to have a

higher blood pressure, sounds crazy, but true. I guess my normal is around

88/58 or so... sometimes a bit lower, sometimes a bit higher. On very rare

occassions it will be as high as 100/60.. when I say it's high to the nurse

she looks at me like I'm nuts!

you might call your pharmacist if your doctor doesn't answer such questions by phone?

Marfan's is very rare. Echo ever done? Eye exam? Family Hx?I think there may even be gentic testing that can be done now but haven't looked at it for awhile.CE Grim MDHello,She diagnosed the Marfan's because some of my features; tall, thin, roof of my mouth-high; scoliosis with dural ectashia (spelling?); hyperextension of my joints; some chest pain; longer than average fingers, hands, and arms; and thin face. From one of her postings.

" My other medical conditions are Marfan's Syndrome and severe

scoliosis with dural ectasia (very painful). I did have surgery on my left

ureter to my left kidney because the ureter was really narrow and causing me

hydronephrosis. This has since resolved. "

I would think she should at least see an orthopaedis.

Hello,Just wondering if any of you use the "Shaker Stick"as part of your exercise. If you,do has it helped you to tone up your arms?My home health nurse thinks it might damage joints, not sure I agree. It would be something could even be done seated, sounds like a good thing to me. Bev E AR
