Guest guest
Hi, Today, after PBS (done twice, I was really stiff this morning!) I did Women's Health Train for Your Body Type - Upper Body, Lower Body, Core & abs, Superslow Bonus and Power Yoga Bonus. The workout was probably just under 45 minutes. This week I seem to be sticking with shorter routines. I contemplated adding on a short cardio (30 min or less) but just didn't feel like it - I had other stuff on my mind and other stuff I wanted to accomplish this morning. So, I let it go. I figured I did mostly cardio and cardio/sculpt last week so doing less cardio this week is okay. Anyway, I did enjoy the sculpting workouts on this DVD. I liked them better than the ones on the Wedding Workout as they were more interesting and " functional " (I'm a sucker for functional stuff!) There were more balance and rotational challenges thrown into the standard moves, which I always enjoy. My only critque is again, they only use one set of super light weights (they recommend 2's-5's) - which would not be challenging for most intermediate to advanced exercisers. Also, it doesn't make sense since you have different size muscles throughout your body and while 5's may be challenging for a shoulder exercise, most people can use way more than that for chest flies! I used (or attempted to use, I think I'm guilty, as most women, of underestimating my strength - I've been skimming through the book the New Rules of Lifting For Women, and can really see how I do underestimate my strength!) more appropriate weights for each body part - which, of course, meant more pausing and rewinding. The leg section incorporated some floorwork (pilates inspired) I made it more difficult with ankle weights. There are two backgrounders - Anita (who I'm pretty sure has been in other workouts) and Madison (I think she is in the Prevention workouts, which makes sense since I think Rodale publishes both Prevention and Women's Health). Anita shows more advanced options and Madison more beginner. The instructor, is pretty good - straightforward. Each segment is about 10-12 minutes long, so you won't get the extensive workout you will from a longer session, but I felt like I got a decent weight/sculpting workout in a short amount time. Tomorrow I think will be yoga - probably Hips Bliss (Ravi/Ana) Take care! Donna ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Never miss a thing.
