I, too, train myself. After retiring from track,I found it was easier to

just do it by myself without having to spend the money on someone who may

or may not know what they were doing. That doesn't mean that I did not ask

for opinions when I was seeking changes in the routine. (I called my former

coach A LOT!) And recently, having gone through an amazing physical journey

of change--losing a lot of extra weight that decided to camp out with me one

day--my body remembers what it used to do and loves it. So, I am sometimes

training the way I did in college preparing for events.

Currently, I have several friends that are also coaches in a variety of

sports and performance. We meet together at least twice a month and bring

" our toys " or not and play in the park--practising or testing new things we

have learned or something we want to try before presenting to one of our

athletes. We tend to bring out the " macho-attitudes " not to be shown up and

really kill ourselves--laughing that we are not in high school anymore!!

Everyday for me is different, and my journey in training is that way

too - granted, I spend two workouts in the pool and one or two on the track

and the rest is whereever I want to be - it works for me and I feel awesome!

It is a matter of becoming comfortable with yourself and your program and

the person who helps you develop it, even if it is yourself.
