Guest guest
Hi Greg, Great question ... my patients ask me about this all the time. In fact, I have a small book that is being readied on the subject ..... hope to have it out by Christmas: Basics, Basics, Basics. Will let you know when it is available. Meantime: ALL of those are antioxidants. Antioxidents are any nutrient that provides a barrier to oxidation. Such as minerals, vitamins B,C,A, D, E, & K. Each of those have many other specific properties and benefits but all interfere with the oxidation process. Antioxidants are also electrolytes but electrolytes are meant to include only minerals. Vitamins are not considered electrolytes but they are antioxidants. The darker the color the higher the antioxidant (nutrient) / (ORAC) potential. The water soluble antioxidants (minerals and Vitamins Bs & Cs) break down over time..... I thought it is about 3 days but that has been broubght into question lately and so far I haven't found any thing yeah or nay about it in my various readings)...but they break down sooner than the fat soluble ones. Hope that helps. There is a lot of talk about antioxys. You have your black raspberries [they grow around the Willamette valley and have high ORAC #s] and other berries, krill oil, Vit a,c,d,e, goji, acai, noni, mangosteen, dark greens and multilevel marketing products like Protadim. You also have ORAC values. Are they sigificant? What should we be focusing on? Thanks Kahn DC Eugene
