Guest guest
Group, New case of a 23 yo female patient rear ended while her neck was turned at time of impact. She is experiencing headaches, neck pain, visual changes, slight balance issues and confirmed alar ligament laxity on craniocervical MRI. I would like to refer her to a neurologist for additional work up. Any recommendations are appreciated. Guest guest
I had a successful jury trial in Multnomah County a couple of weeks ago (2 1/2 times the pre-trial offer and more than the arbitration award), and the testifying treating neurologist was Dr. Gajanan Nilaver, M.D. who works out of Providence (the treating chiropractor also testified brilliantly and persuasively by the way). Dr. Nilaver was awesome as a witness, and my client indicates that Dr. Nilaver also was (and is) awesome as a treating physician and clinician--gave and gives my client the "time of day" each and every time he's seen. While he is not "Board Certified," he is "Board Eligible," and the only meaningful distinction I can gather there is that he's spent about 30 years of his long career in research, he taught neurology for 15 years at Columbia University School of Medicine and another 15 years at OHSU. I get the idea that he has never been concerned about the label of "Board Certified." His c.v. of published work is about 22 pages long. In meeting and speaking with him, you can tell he truly gives a rip about his patients and in finding solutions to their problems. It's tough to find neurologists willing to see mva patients, because so many of the patients don't have personal health insurance and have blown through their PIP by the time a referral is made. The neurologist is left holding the bill for months and months, and sometimes months. I honestly can't blame them. G.
