The one in LA? If so his dad (a doc too) was big into natural only, I don't

buy that argument myself.

Hi , I'm nursing babe #3 and I take 3-6 New Chapter " Perfect

Prenatals " /day, depending on the quality of my diet. i work in the

supplements dept. of our local co-op and have learned to avoid almost ALL

supplements (kind of a contradiction, I know.) The New Chapter brand is

derived entirely from ACTUAL FOOD (90% organic) and comes in much lower

potencies than the conventional. synthetic, mega-dose multi vit-min. The

prenatals they hand out at the Health Dept. (and, unfortunately, many of

the ones at the HFS) are CRAP! If I weren't pregnant/nursing, i

probably wouldn't supplement my (mostly macrobiotic) diet at all; for now

it's like insurance that baby Bella & I are getting all the essentials.

........I also take an E.F.A. oil supplement and drink Nettle tea by the

gallon! HTH!!!

Gretchen, what's you opinion on the Animal Parade vits for kids (specifically

my 2.5 yo) and also Kid Greenz (both by Nature's Plus). I know vits aren't

the way to go but this kid is so picky right now :-(

Thanks.

We used the Animal Parade for awhile when Maya was 2-3, they're not bad,

a whole food BASE, but not entirely made of food. Now R.J. takes Organic

Frog kid vitamins (she's only 2 so she takes half of one/day) they're

similar to the Nature's Plus ones, in a base of whole foods. New

Chapter doesn't really make a kid multi, they just reccomend that older

kids take their " tiny tabs " - itty bitty vitamins the size of BBs - which

is what Maya does now. She thinks she's so big & cool, she calls them

her " swallow vitamivs' LOL I think food is always better - we do seaweed

like Nori in sushi or Miso soup, and Spirulina in smoothies (I'm learning

to hide veggies in sauces, too - like blending the spinach or broccoli or

whatever Maya's turning up her nose at with tahini, lemon &

garlic/ginger.) We do the multis (try for whole food ones) for

insurance, but beyond that I like to get all my/the kiddos nutrients

through whole, organic foods & nourishing herbs. HTH!

What vitamin/s would you recommend for the typical woman? If you need more

info then that, feel free to ask. I'm taking One A Day now until I get to

Fresh Fields.

Hi Robin, JMO, but if I weren't nursing, I wouldn't take a multi - I

would simply adjust my diet to include more of the vits/minerals I might

be considered " deficient " in. Earl Mindell's Vitamin bible is a pretty

good quick reference book where you can find out what vits/mins are

depleted by what activity (like smoking or stress or nursing, you name

it.) He does recommend supplementing w/ vitamin pills (which I don't,

for the most part) but the book is helpful in deciding what FOODS to look

for. As a last resort, I take New Chapter (whole food supplements) like

I'm on their Vit.C now to fend off sickness - it is NOT plain old

ascorbic acid, but a blend of Vit.C containing foods like broccoli,

oranges, etc. New Chapter DOES make a multi for nonpg-nursing women,

called " Everywoman " (they also have " Everyman " ) which I would only use if

I had very little time to devote to meal planning/prep. HTH!

Are those of you taking vitamins for yourself and kids using ones that are cheleated? Talking to people they have said if they are aren't cheleated they aren't being utilized or absorbed. I haven't seen a kids multi that is cheleated. I've been giving her the Chewy Bears kind.

Hi (I LOVE your dd's names, BTW) I think chelation refers to

minerals (in pill form?) and altering their structure - making them more

digestible. We sell a lot of liquid minerals at our co-op, too

(colloidal, trace, etc.) though I, personally, try to get these thru sea

veggies & Real Sea Salt. I'm not familiar with Chewy Bears (are they

like Yummi Bears? we've avoided those bc of the gelatin.)

Thanks. Are those your children's real middle names or just fun descriptions? either way--COOL.

I'm not familiar with Chewy Bears (are theylike Yummi Bears? we've avoided those bc of the gelatin.)

The are American Health brand--Chewy Bears (not really chewy--just chewable-there are no animal derivatives, no artif. colors, preserv. or sweetners

Well, my naturopath said that vitamins are fine just as long as they are

not synthetic and or man made. There are vitamins that are whole foods

based that are much better for you.

I had several terrible experiences with Usana, personally as well as what others I know went through. The products are not as high quality as they claim to be and there are better ones out there, which I found to resonate higher on my QX to my clients.

I have had excellent results with Usana's products. We had a lot of health

challenges when our family started on the products eight years ago. Great

results! We wouldn't be without them.

Dear Friends,

I just have a question about a product line ,which I have encountered

lately. The manufacturer states, that this product is the " number one

natural vitamin complex on this planet " ,and I read few statistics

about it,but I am still skeptical. The company is the USANA Co. and

they have other stuff as well.

If anybody knows anything about this company and the vitamin products

I would be happy to hear some information.

Thank you

Hi all,

After reading the article about multivitamins, I was reminded that I

really ought to get with it and start taking them. I have a problem

swallowing them though, as they tend to be quite large, and so I have

been looking for them in smaller pills or another form. I tried some

that were powdered, but I think they didn't agree with my GI system.

At any rate, something happened to make me stop taking them in a

hurry!

So, does anybody have a brand that they take that is smaller pills?

The extra strength acetominophen from WalMart is about the biggest

pill I can take without choking. Thanks!

Hi ,

I just had my yearly visit with my neurologist & he suggested I take Vit. C 2x a

day & a multivitamin. I have big problems with swallowing pills also so my mom

found chewables for me at Wal-mart. They are Centrum Advanced Formula & taste

like orange. Hope this is of some help.
