Guest guest
Marci: I'm in week 10 too and I'm about where I was at week 8 but stronger physically. The scales are aobut the same etc, I haven't been 100 percent on food because my son and his wife are home from Japan and I won't see them again for a year. I'm still hitting the gym and drinking water, but the food has slipped a bit. I'm not beating myself up because June 16 I'll be back 100 percent for challenge two. (it will take me about 3 challenges to get where I want to be) Other goals I have: a cruise this next week, (wearing sleeveless and being ok in it) a 5k (i did) and another 5k with better time. In a year or two I want to do a triathalon and after the third challenge I'm going to focus on the tri part. ABS. I'm getting some, and I'd like to be cut at least once in my life. A biggie: Health, I'm strong, 43 and look a lot younger according to other people. (I think I look my age) Strength, and energy, so many people don't have any energy and its great to feel good, and get things done. I'm making sure I take a day off from exercise and getting enough sleep and my goal is to be better physically in 10 years than I am today. Guest guest
I've never written an article called the 10 Week Freak Out, but nearly everybody who completes a challenge goes through a " Why am I even doing this? " thing at around week 9-10. So, congratulations on making it far enough to experience that. It means that you're doing great and you're almost there. You've been working really hard and it's normal to lose some steam and start to question your motivation. Question all you want, just don't stop! :-D You are in the homestretch right now. This 12 weeks can change everything and be the beginning of a whole new fitness lifestyle. Beyond 12 weeks, I had goals like wanting to fit into a pair of size 4 Gap jeans (check), wanting to be a 40 year old woman with the metabolism of a college football player (check), wanting abs like Batman (achieved Batgirl maybe?) wanting to be a blackbelt (made it to brown belt and retired with 5 broken bones, a couple torn tendons, titanium hardware, and some nerve damage, it was a nice thought, LOL.). Now I have all new goals. I want to lose some of the muscle/fighter/bodybuilder thing and look more... pretty. Hey, it's comical, but it's a goal. I want to relax and really enjoy fitness instead of always putting myself in situations where I'm obsessing, injured and/or fearing for my life. I'd love to hear everyone else's goals for 12 weeks and beyond. On Wed, Jun 4, 2008 at 1:08 AM, Marci Ekman wrote: > Hello LadiesI'm in week 10. Guest guest
Thanks Shelia and , It's good to know that I'm not the only one who freaks out for no reason! I guess at this point I am just gonna rely on the actions that have become habits, eating well, hitting the gym, until that motivation feeling starts coming back. Like someone else on this board keeps saying, Progress not perfection! Oh and thanks for sharing your goals, I love to hear what everyone else is working toward and what makes it real to each of you!Marci To: bodyforlifewomensclub2@...: skwigg@...: Wed, 4 Jun 2008 08:18:11 -0500Subject: Re: Home stretch I've never written an article called the 10 Week Freak Out, but nearlyeverybody who completes a challenge goes through a " Why am I even doingthis? Guest guest
My 12 weeks and beyond is to FINALLY be content with the way I look no matter how long it takes. Growing up, I was thin but never really looked like I wanted to. I'm finally seeing changes now at 33 and I keep saying I wish I knew how to do this when I was 15 or at my oompa loompa years 19 through 30...lol. 12 years wasted on " walking " daily, endless aerobics classes but eating anything that was processed wondering why my walking and constant aerobic activity wasn't doing anything! The first 12 weeks ended at 10 weeks but made it to the goal weight of 110 lb but that was the " end " in my mind, then went right back to eating crap and not moving - what a mistake! This past 12 week goal was to finish the 12 weeks this time, smaller and healthier - DONE! This current 12 weeks is just to keep shrinking and becoming more fit and planning another 12 weeks after this one, already half way through week 1 of C2. Guest guest
Hmm, think I figured out part of what is wrong, I don't have any specific, definable goals in mind for this first challenge. My goals were very general. I didn't take measurements, and didn't get my body fat% done. I was weighing myself once a week at home, and seeing progress until my HS flared up. After that, everything sort of fizzled for me and now I am afraid to set a specific goal because it seems everytime I do that, something comes along to squash it (HS). My long term goals are to be healthy, not at rist for diabetes and heart disease the way I am now. I'd like to be 'half the woman I am now'...I could lose almost half my body weight and be considered height/weight proportionate, on the thin side. I have no plans to be 'skinny', I'll always be curvy, just want to be healthier. My secret wish is that a cure for HS is found and I no longer have to worry about it...but I guess life is more interesting when there are roadblocks and challenges. Karyn > > Hello LadiesI'm in week 10. What's weird is that instead of feeling so excited and that I've accomplished so much, I feel like I'm faltering. And I can't figure out why. I've never made it this far in a challenge before. I've never been past week 3 or 4 in the past. I'm not missing workouts, my meals are good for the most part. I do mess up here and there but not so much that I feel like I've ruined everything. So I can't imagine why I'd be feeling so weak (not physically) instead of strong. Any thoughts? Feels like this has been going on for a week or so now and I'm pretty sure it's not TOM. > > Anyway, I thought I'd ask: What goals did you all set for yourselves at the beginning of your challenges?
