Hi everyone,

Was in hospital again with ds today, (after pneumonia on 19June). He started coughing again on Wed so took him for assessment. Xray done, lungs look better but still a haze over the right lung and they are not sure if it is the remainder of the last infection or a new infection altogether. Further examination also shows an ear and throat infection as well! (he has been scratching at his left temple but this explains why, I thought all along it was a skin irritation )

A further swab done last week around his bum/penis area shows "colonisation of pseudomonas". The Registrar went through various tests done since January and said he had pseudomonas at the end of April in a throat swab, which we were never informed of. What we've been told is it is a bacteria that is found on all of us, soil, water etc.

My concern is if this bears any significance to his recent pneumonia and being poorly for sometime now. Is there anyway of finding out or getting them to test further? Does anyone know much about this bacteria?

He's now been prescribed azithromycin (6 days) and fluconazole (14 days). I'm getting really concerned over the number of antibiotics. He's had about 4 courses of antibiotics in the last 6-8 months.

I still can't figure out why doctors hide/don't give us full results of tests, this is the second time this week that we have found out a result that they didn't give us. Early this week we found out that Norman was diagnosed with colitis by the GI at GOSH when he was 3 yrs old (he is now 12)but she never gave us this result, she only asked us to try the GFCF diet to see if it helped his loose stools. Surely, we should have a right to the results of findings, don't we? Should I be writing to complain about not being told of these results??

Any thoughts, advice, anything on the pseudomonas will be really helpful.
