Guest guest
Assuming you are on no meds and they collected a 24 hr urine when they did the renin and aldo you do not have PA. Renin too high. There are no renin aldo findings specific for Cushings.24 or sleep urine for urinary free cortisol is where I start. You did not mention your strength over all.Bruising?Sugar problems? There is a support group for folks with Cushings. They are called Cushies at that site I think.CE Grim MDHi, my name is Kat(xiola) and I'm currently going through testing for a couple different endo problems...Cushing's, Conn's, etc.I have had really high blood pressure for several years (180-190/90-100)In the past couple months I've found a bp med (avalide) that has lowered my bp incredibly...yesterday it was 110/70 but I feel worse than ever.I have all the classic symptoms of Cushing's Disease (moon face, buffalo hump, abdomen looks pregnant, deep purple stretch marks and I haven't had any children. The problem is that my aldosterone, renin and cortisol levels aren't following the typical pattern for Cushing's. From blood tests alone, Conn's fits alot more.Levels from my first dexamethasone suppression test:RENX (PRA,LC/MS/MS)= 28.08 (normal is .25-5.82) Renin levels????VITAMIND=5 (normal is 30-100)ALDOSTERONE=46 (4pm-6pm when I had the blood drawn, normal is 21)FREE TESTOSTERONE=6.9 (normal is .1-6.4)TOTAL TESTOSTERONE= 78 (normal is 2-45)CORTISOL=14.91 (4pm-8pm when I had the blood drawn, normal is 2.3-12.3)I'm now doing the 2 day dex suppression test (.5mg every 6 hours for 2 days, blood drawn on morning of 3rd).I hope to find out the cause of all of this...I feel like I'm drowning in symptoms and problems and am on SSDI because of other health issues (narcolepsy/cataplexy mainly).Thought I would check out this group and see if anyone can relate or can keep me one step ahead of my endo so I know what to expect. Thanks in advance!Kat (xiola)
Guest guest
Thank you for your reply!I haven't had any urine tests yet...?? I wonder why.I'm on several meds so I don't know if any of them could effect the outcome but none are meds that I can really stop taking for any period of time anyway. Harumph.I do bruise pretty easily and the bruises seem to last forever. I feel so weak all the time as far as my muscles go...somedays it's hard to open a water bottle and other days I feel like I strain/sprain my wrists just opening a water bottle.I had my sugars tested many years ago and was borderline diabetes mellitus but endo thought it could be attributed to pcos and I tried 2 meds but they made me very sick. I eat very healthy but it's very hard to excercise as even taking a shower these days makes my legs shake from just standing.I've read the below table and it's how I came to the conclusion that it might be (secondary)hyperaldosteronism because of how my levels fit. *In redDisease Aldosterone Cortisol Renin Primary hyperaldosteronism High Normal Low Secondary hyperaldosteronism High Normal High Cushing’s syndrome Low-normal High Low Adrenal insufficiency ('s disease) Low Low HighThank you so much for the info! Much appreciated....I will check out the Cushie's board even though my levels don't seem to fit.Kat(xiola)CC: lowerbp2@...To: hyperaldosteronism From: lowerbp2@...Date: Tue, 19 Oct 2010 07:20:12 -0600Subject: Re: Hi! Guest guest
Isn't PCOS sometimes a result of aldosteronism? I had my sugars tested many years ago and was borderline diabetes mellitus but endo thought it could be attributed to pcos and I tried 2 meds but they made me very sick.
