Guest guest
Dear Steph, I expect you are sorted with the HBOT now but I thought you might be interested in this bit of discussion on the abmd list. It got a bit heated and when it calmed down started discussing why some kids get worse not better and someone wrote this which includes a few thoughts on HBOT. I thought you might be interested. Sally I can tell you my hunch why some kids worsen, its because they are given bucketfuls of supplements that are inappropriate to their personal issues which can alter neurotransmitter activity for the WORSE, thinking that they are correcting some “deficiency” which actually doesn’t exist. B12 /folate is often suggested for its effects on serotonin and not because of a real medical deficiency. For some it is fantastic, for others who don’t need serotonin messed with, not good. Some kids can’t metabolize fats properly, so giving high dose fish oils actually makes them worse. Or using HBOT with kids with unknown hot spots (areas of hyper blood flow) to increase blood flow to areas of low activity, but the HBOT exacerbates the already hyper-perfused areas thus making some symptoms worse and causing seizure activity….Or chelating a kid that is, in fact, not toxic, but neurologically injured for some other reason (injury, damage at birth, viral or bacterial damage, etc) and by not doing it properly so as to literally strip minerals from the body and not replacing them, just a few thoughts…..
