hola, y'all,

i joined this board about a year ago and started my first BFL

challenge. i was feeling fabulous following the BFL plan, and had

decided to try to introduce new cardio fun to my life, including more

challenging ice skating lessons. (i've always known how to skate, but

i wanted to learn jumps and such.) suffice to say, i fell on the ice

and ended up with a torn PCL (not a typo) and torn meniscus.

(newsflash -- you don't bounce as well in your 40s as you might in

your 20s ;-)so much for the challenge; time for the " rebuild your knee

and quads challenge. " skwigg had done something similar just a few

months before, and i found her blog to be incredibly helpful -- i know

it aided my recovery.

anyway, i am back. and i am starting on wednesday. i am remembering

how wonderful i felt eating clean and working out. i have a ton of

weight to lose -- i was on steroids a year ago for this little matter

of my platelets going away mysteriously. but right now, i am focusing

on eating right and feeling good. oh, and training for a 5k. my 9 year

old ran her first 5k in december as part of this terrific " girls on

the run " program which encourages elementary school aged girls to be

active and to build their self esteem. i couldn't run with her -- i

had just gotten the go-ahead to begin training, but i was not there

yet. (don't laugh!!) so i want to rehab enough to be there come the

next race in the spring.

i'm looking forward to learning a lot from you!

best,

~sher
