Wed - The Workout that Almost Wasn't (but was, thanks to Kathy V!)

Hi Everyone,

Rough night last night - DD had trouble sleeping - I

think she is going through an " afraid to grow up "

phase right now (she's anxious to go to Kindergarten,

but I think she is a little afraid, too)- she

alternates between being very independent and then

regressing a bit into more baby-ish behavior. I think

this may have something to do with her not being able

to sleep that well sometimes. Anyway, I spent from

2-5 a.m. in her bed - not a great sleep and she was up

for probably an hour and a half of that - she's still

sleeping now, which is good -she'd be way too crabby

if she didn't catch up on her missed sleep.

So, I was not feeling very energetic when I got up -

but I thought of Kathy who always manages to get

*SOMETHING* in no matter how time or sleep deprived

she is - so I convinced myself to do my T-Tapp Primary

Back Stretch (twice) and then see what i felt like.

After T-Tapp I ended up doing 's Walks Slim 2

Mile walk - yay! I could have done yoga or something

else that is gentle, but I really needed the cardio as

I haven't been eating well - well, I've been eating

" well " just too much and even too much healthy stuff

(we have this huge container of hummus, which I love,

but it is a bit hefty on the calories and I'm not

doing a good job of measuring my portions of it!) adds

up to extra weight and I've gained a few lbs...so I

figured some sort of cardio would be a good choice.

The Walk Slim 2 Miles is definately my " feel good "

workout - it has no dread factor and at the end I feel

more energized than when I started. And, being that I

felt more energy I also added on two segments from

Tracey Mallett's Renew You Cardio Fusion workout -

this one has 4 segments, Yoga (sun sals), a dance

section, upper body toning (Pilates inspired), total

body toning (Pilates inspired). I did the Yoga

section which is a basic series of sun salutations

done at a gentle pace - at the end she throws in same

dance type moves - plies and such, probably b/c the

next segment on the DVD is the dance section. After

that, I did the Total Body Toning which was a good

blend of Pilates ab and back work.

For the rest of the week the plan is to do her Super

Body Bootcamp workouts (Burn it and Firm it) and add

on the rest of the Renew You workout from today.

I do like Tracey's workouts and I'm eyeing her " sexy

in 6 " DVDs and book but I don't want to pay $15 for

each DVD, although I think the six min segments would

make nice add ons or good stand alone workouts for

time and sleep deprived days. I will try to hold off

to find a good price or coupon first!

And, I have to say, cross training pays off - in spite

of doing the " X " for 90 days, I'm a tiny bit sore from

Pilates yesterday - just goes to show you how

different approaches challenge muscles differently.

I'm still struggling to find a plan for the next few

months. I may pull up one of my " generic " fit it all

in rotations and then I can just plug in whatever i

want. Hmmm..that reminded me, I may look at Carolyn's

rotations and maybe throw a treadmill session in in

place of her elliptical rides......

Take care!

Donna
