Guest guest
Are you suggesting High dose - antiviral Vitamin A, Or Megson Vitamin A from CLO or what are you " talking " about regarding Vitamin A... Geir Flatabø 2007/7/11, JULIE GRIFFITHS : Just a thought.... I was reading back some very old posts and saw that many kids couldn't seem to build good bacteria ( the Lactobacillus sort) colonies in the gut based on pre and posts fecal tests done.. Interestingly enough, somewhere I read ( I think I found this out in Germany) that the area in the gut where they reside predominantly is in the ileal portion ( don't hold me to this, though!) , the area of much controversy in that it is subject of the autistic entercolitis as noted by Wakefield. Somewhere also there was a post about how Vitamin A can build up the intestinal mucous ( also builds up secretory IGa as far as I know) so that the good bacteria can colonize.. Can Eddie tolerate any type of Vitamin A and might he already be taking it? If not, it might be worthwhile to give him this and monitor. I believe strongly in Vitamin A. I was one of the first to take the plunge having done tons of research. Scared me doing it but the results were great. My daughter who had zilch good bacteria made terrific improvements just a few days after. Her 4 year long constipation finally abated for one thing and she made a lot of stride forward cognitively. After fatty acids and Houston enzymes, Vit A goes down in my book as the third wonder substance. I later found a study on rats that showed that mercury will rapidly deplete vitamin A in the liver. Can't compare to humans naturally but it may be indicative for humans. Unfortunately no studies yet..... While we are on the subject of gut bacteria, doctors in Germany often prescribe E Coli ( the good type) as standard gut build up after antibiotics. It's expensive ( think it was 30 Euros for about a month) but very important. I was given it in a German hospital after I had IV antibiotics post dental extraction. Some of you might want to try it out. When I have a moment I'll find the website for the company From: Sandy and Tim To: Autism-Biomedical-Europe Sent: Wednesday, July 11, 2007 4:39 PM Subject: Re: coconut kefir again Hi Peta,Just email us your address and we'll post some after our holidays. Our grains are almost continously making batches of kefir. We drop them in to the raw milk and cover (but not seal) for 2-3 days and then seive and rinse them and they're ready to go again. They look like cottage cheese blobs. They grow a little each time and you get some new ones. So after a while you can divide a batch in 2. I should mention we use lots of probiotics too. We didn't notice any particular gains with Eddie because of the kefir - but we were going through a time of regular improvements (in that bumpy up and down biomed way) and we feel sure the kefir helped. One big thing we did notice was that Eddie didn't react at all to the kefir or the SCD goat yog. This was really significant because his allergies were so extreme at the time. We were down to 6 foods - thank goodness for Dana's View - her son recovered from something similar. We were really struggling to give Eddie anything at all he could tolerate and digest. It was really fantastic to give him kefir and watch him get some nourishment without red ears or rashes or odd behaviours. We were really glad we did try it. It made a nice pudding mixed with his pear puree and he liked it :-) Best wishes,Sandy > > > >> > > > Hi dr just advised to start coconut kefir. Guest guest
Hi , Was the E.coli, Mutaflor, (E.coli Stamm Nissle 1917) manufactured by Ardeypharm? It's available over the counter in Germany, and recently was costing 90.77 euros per 100. A friend's mother used to get it for us - she bought it at a pharmacy and as it has to be kept cold they sent it packaged with ice packs etc. Total cost per pot used to be about £80, a year ago. I couldn't find any UK stockists, possibly because the shelf life doesn't seem to be much more than 3/4 months - watch out for that if you buy some. I think the recommendation, from memory, for diarrhoea is 2 a day (all the info is in German), but we used 1 a day for about a year. Did it work? It's hard to say because there was so much else going on at the same time, especially increasing loss of sight in left eye (which we didn't know was happening because retinal detachments and cataracts don't hurt!). It certainly didn't do any harm as far as I could tell - despite the encapsulation to get it through the stomach. HTH Patience JULIE GRIFFITHS wrote: Voila! Guest guest
On the button! Mutaflor. It's widely used and each pharmacy has it in stock. I don't have the pre and post labs to prove efficacy but on the Ardeypharma website they do have studies showing positive results. I'm not sure if it's this company or another but there is another fascinating method my doctor uses and that is taking the bacteria found in the fecal matter, growing it and making a vaccine out of it !
