Are there before pictures too, Karyn? I didn't look for them, but I'm sure

there ARE changes. It is hard to see them of ourselves.

How do you do with the BfL diet when you're unable to workout? Do you stay

with it or do you feel like it's all or nothing? I would encourage you to

stay on track with the eating plan if you're not already. It will keep you

steady and ready for the rest. And it's 80% of the program!

Karyn,

I think I do see a difference, your skin looks tighter and you do look

healthier.

Pictures are sometimes discouraging--mine didn't seem to change for months and

then there would be a big difference. I suggest that you try to wear the same

thing every time, because then the difference is clearer and not disguised by a

different cut of clothes, etc.

The important thing is to just keep doing what you're doing. Control the things

you can (diet, exercise) and let the things you can't (illness, pictures) be.

As many here know, I get sick all the time and have very slow progress as a

result, but over 20 months I've gone from needing help getting out of a chair to

being one of the most fit moms at my kids' school--or anywhere for that matter.

I get comments on my arms all the time even though my middle is still kind of

lardy. Just keep going. It will happen. Just jump back on the horse and don't

give up. You're doing great!

my skin disease and couldn't work out at all (or go to work). I resumed

work outs about 14 days later. I really felt the difference, not being

I realize this is going to be a multiple-challenge journey, and I know

it will be changes in small increments. But looking at my pics is a bit

Kayryn, you look smaller and more firm to me. Success is just a matter of

staying focused and continuing on. So many times people see a measurement or

a photo or a scale weight they don't like, and they get discouraged and

quit. It's crazy logic but it happens over and over again. DO NOT get

discouraged.

It helps to focus on feelings and habits rather than numbers. Do I feel good

when I exercise? Do I sleep better at night? Am I less stressed? Do I have

more confidence in myself? Did I eat all of my meals today? Did I drink my

water? Did I pack my lunch? Did I plan my workout?

It's really about creating a new lifestyle where you feel good about taking

care of yourself. Anytime numbers or photos or medical conditions are

messing with you, shift the focus to the big picture, the life you want to

lead, the way you want to feel, who you want to be - and act accordingly.

That will create a positive mindset and lasting results.

Diane,

Yes, my before are umder " Challenge 1 " . When I was at my most

discouraged, after a few days of not working out, I did not eat

clean. I have returned to eating clean and it definately makes a huge

difference in how I feel, so, if for no other reason, I will

continue. Of course, I think it will also help me to get in better

shape, and lose fat. I am going to take some advice here and try

wearing the same thing every time I take a new pic, so the changes

can be better compared. THanks for the encouragement :)

beth,

Thank you for the kind words and encouragement. It is so hard for me

to see any changes. I will take your advice and try to wear the same

clothing for the next pics in a few weeks.

It is so great to be able to log on and see and read inspiration

here. Honestly, many days it is what keeps me going, keeps me hopeful

that I will reach my fitness goals. Your last pics you posted were

very inspiring, it also must be great to be admired at the gym! That

would really be something. I can't believe 20 months ago you needed

help getting out of a chair. Your story is encouraging, and I do plan

on getting back on that horse and seeing changes come, even if they

come slowly.

I will post new pics again in another 2 weeks.

Have a great week,

Karyn

Thank you for the encouragement, I really needed to hear positive

remarks. As I keep looking at the progress pics, I can see a small

change, at least it is in the right direction.

I am feeling better the last few days, eating clean and doing cardio,

going back to weights again tomorrow. I did invest in the Gym Boss

timer, tried it on my walk today, I really like it. One thing that is

great is that once it starts 'counting', you can't mess it up by

accidentally hitting a button on it (there are 3). Not sure if you

have one of these, but I followed advice here and seems well worth

the $20.

I will not quit BFL because I know the changes will come, it just may

take longer with me as it did with some others here. I have to say

the encouragement from other members is priceless. :)

I read your review of RCR, it was funny, and helpful. You look really

fit, and happy, and that is, I think, what all of us are after.

Hey Karyn,

I have been sick with some kind of crud for three weeks now, and my fever

has returned, so I have put my workouts on hold while I try to get over this

without getting pneumonia...urgh! I am doing the food and working on my all

or nothing attitude. It's a good lesson, especially as how this challenge

I'll also have minor surgery and a vacation to deal with.

Do what you can and be patient!

Hi Dianne,

Being sick really does put BFL on hold, doesn't is? Its irritating,

but I guess the body isn't a machine, it needs TLC and pampering so

that it doesn't break down :)

I try to remember that when I am burning the candle at both ends and

feeling guilty about missing a work out. I work 2 jobs, have been a

single Mom for the last 9 years with minimal help from family

(closest is hundreds of miles from me). I guess we all do the best we

can with the circumstances we have.

Sometimes I think maybe natural supplements are the answer to

strengthen the immune system. I take a multi-vitamin, but am

wondering if anyone has a favorite supplement/herbal remedy they take

for their immune system. I've heard good things about bee pollen,

just not sure what is the best thing to take for strength/cardio

training.

Karyn,

I take Echinacea/Goldenseal. I've taken it since I was a kid and

hardly ever get sick. I don't know if it's due to the supplement or

if I just have a strong immune system to begin with... maybe it's all

in my head! HAHA!
