Hi Charlie-Complicated question. Check out the enclosed sheet from ZRT labs. In many the answer is is dealing with adrenal fatigue/dysfunction through diet (whole and natural) and support with adaptogens and glandulars. In some, it may require bio-identical hormone replacement (of course out of our scope). Bioidentical doesn't necessarily mean natural. It refers to the fact that the compound is identical in structure to the natural form and does not describe source. Pharmaceutical hormones are not bioidentical because you can't patent them. So they create an "almost the same" hormone, which of course isn't, and patent the formula. Then they side-effects begin because close enough isn't good enough for the body in the long haul.
