Guest guest
Mel you are in my prayers. My son has IBS and his doc was certain he had crohns. Both are horribly painful. I had two feet of colon removed in April. I was totally collapsed (diviticilosis - no symptoms). Doc couldn't get an infant probe though me. For me surgery was easy. Had surgery on Wednesday and on Friday doc asked me what was going on, you have not had pain meds since midnight. I told him I did not have pain. Of course, I have a very high tolerance for pain. You can expect to be asked to walk in the first 24 hours. Painful, but it's really a good thing for you to do. Not sure where you are, but in Texas colon surgery requires a five day stay in the hospital. A very important thing to ask your doc before surgery- - laxatives. Your colon forgets how to work after surgery and you will be on laxatives for some time. I am on Miralax twice daily for a year, plus a stool softener. I was told recovery was three weeks, but I work retail so I took six. If you can, take the six weeks. I know this is scary and overwhelming but you will feel so much better when the collapsed part is removed. I understand what you are going through, I'm here if you need me. > > > > Subject: Hi im new here > To: BeingSick > Date: Saturday, October 31, 2009, 3:40 PM > > > > I am new here i suffer from crohns disease. im happy to found a place where people get it about being sick. sometimes i feel people just don't get it. > morel later, have to muster up the energy to take the kids trick or treating. > > Melinda in PA >
Guest guest
Dear Melinda: i had surgery for my crohns and mine didnt go so well. when it was over, i thought gee i dont feel any different. Thats all i really remember. I guess my intestines started to leak so they had to operate again. They put me in a drug induced coma (which i had nightmares the whole time) for 4 days. I wake up to a illeostomy bag on me and a huge open wound that they had to leave open to heal. It took me a long time to get over that. I cant begin to tell you how much fun after that. I am glad that i am finally healed and back to normal (if you consider a zipper stomach and no belly button and a hernia from the operation normal). If you want to talk more about this my email is cyndyclayton1@...Cyndy Clayton To: BeingSick Sent: Wed, November 4, 2009 4:58:25 AMSubject: Re: Hi im new here WOW;; BEST WISHES FOR THE SURGERY;; I PRAY THAT ALL GOES WELL HUGS DORT From: Mel <melmazzocco@ verizon.net>Subject: Hi im new hereTo: BeingSick@yahoogrou ps.comDate: Saturday, October 31, 2009, 3:40 PM I am new here i suffer from crohns disease. im happy to found a place where people get it about being sick. sometimes i feel people just don't get it.morel later, have to muster up the energy to take the kids trick or treating.Melinda in PA
