RNA Interference Methods Highlighted In Cold Spring Harbor Protocols

http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/medicalnews.php?newsid=49127

The current issue of Cold Spring Harbor Protocols, published online

today, features new, freely available methods for using RNA

interference (RNAi) in mice and Drosophila. RNAi is a technique that

allows researchers to specifically block the action of individual

genes without affecting the expression of others. These protocols-

contributed by leading scientists in the RNAi field-will be useful to

many researchers seeking to identify the biological functions of

genes in important biological model systems.

Among the more than 50 new methods published today are protocols for

handling embryonic stem cells, visualizing events leading to

programmed cell death, and preparing cells and proteins for

microscopic imaging. The latest issue adds greater depth to the

substantial archive of protocols that has been available since the

launch of this new scientific resource in May of 2006.
