,

I've thought about this for a day or so, and honestly. I can't separate the pain

from each disease. I see so many posts where people describe the same symptoms

I have, burning feet, pain at the joints wherever a nerve passes, pain at night

from general activity. I beleive that a lot of this is CIDP and I get tons of

relief from the IVIG, to the point I'm almost pain free, but does the CMT also

respond to it? There is also a thread that says that some CMT types may be

prone to CIDP, and may of the CMT diagnosis in the group may also have CIDP. My

CIDP was diagnosed 7 years after the CMT diagnosis. It's just hard to say.

Sorry I can't help more, but I do recommend that anyone with significant pain

look at CIDP and see if there are cross over symtoms, and look into a lumbar

puncture, particularly if one is diabetic also.

Hi , ,

I'm jumping in her. I haven't been reading the emails this week so I'm

behind. Sorry if I say something that has already been discussed.

I have CMT 1A and I have all of the symptoms you mention below. I especially

have the joint pain and it is very seasonal. I have not been diagnosed with any

type of arthritis -- I have been checked for

rheumatoid arthritis as well. I've always believed it was CMT

related until I recently saw the posts on CIDP and looked it up on some medical

sites. It does sound so close in symptoms to at least the demyelinating CMT

types. Of course, lots of neuropathies have similar symptoms. I have begun

wondering if I have more than

one type of neurological issue going on and I plan to ask my doctor about CIDP

when I see her again.

I also have significant shoulder and neck pain that I believe is due to muscles

weakened by inactivity. Right now, that is my primary complaint. The bones in

my neck pop which I think is due to muscle atrophy. Even my neurologist noted

how very weak my neck muscles

are. I don't hear CMTers complaining much about shoulder and neck pain though.

My mother (also diagnosed with CMT1A) has had significant neck and shoulder pain

most of her life.
