Guest guest
Hi Leena, Ask your physical therapist EXACTLY what he/she means. Is this TENS or TES? Or, is this an implant under the skin in the muscle or bone? I had some TENS 'therapy' on my back - prior to surgery, while lying on an ice blanket in the physical therapist's office. I don't think it did much for my back muscles, but it did relieve pain temporarily. I also had electrical bone stimulation implanted in my hip after back surgery to speed bone healing. It was removed 6 months later with positive results. As for TENS or TES for muscle atrophy, NO. Atrophy is atrophy right now. Gene therapists are hard at work to make atrophied muscles resume function, but the practical side is far down the road. can speak for TES. I believe on of her children had it for awhile. The best 'therapy' I have found for muscles is to use them! Exercise at each one's own style and pace. Perhaps your PT could set up a program for you that would work all the different muscle groups. You might want to go back in our archives a few years and look for former posts on TENS and TES. ~ Gretchen
