Guest guest
If as what I belive and what you say is true. That either medical schools are not teaching how to DX PA or that med students are skipping classes on PA. How do we fix this problem? Do we try to get the Medical schools to change how they teach about Conn's? I am not a big fan of sueing Dr. Sometime it has to be done. Is this what it is going to take? Do we go to all the states and request that for a Dr be licensed in there state they have to know how to test for Conn's? Do we go to places like the American Heart Association and request that they educate everyone on Conn's? > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > If you have limited funds then you are limited > > as to > > > > > > > health > > > > > > > > > care > > > > > > > > > > > > > choices. Guest guest
Just a bit of what is in my VA record By three different Providers. Reviewed Aldosterone, renin level results. His PAC/PRA ratio is 8.1. Normal is 4-10 . Patients with primary hyperaldo typically have ratios in 30 to 50 range. borderline K in recent past and frankly low 2005 but was on HCTZ. has stable appearing adrenal adenoma and past nl 24 hr urine cortisol. pt cts with htn and recent check for Conns syndrome neg (normal renin/aldol. Pt's K tends to be low, and given that his bp are still not well controlled, he may benefit from ACE-I . > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > If you have limited funds then you are limited > > as to > > > > > > > health > > > > > > > > > care > > > > > > > > > > > > > choices. Guest guest
When My Dr ordered the Aldo/renin test he had to call the lab to find out how to order it. They have it listed as a miscellanies blood test. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > If you have limited funds then you are limited > > > as to > > > > > > > > health > > > > > > > > > > care > > > > > > > > > > > > > > choices. Guest guest
Like to add keed to change what Labs do. They could make Dr do a check list that goes with the sample. It they see that meds taking change results then they can say report maybe flawed. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > If you have limited funds then you are limited > > > as to > > > > > > > > health > > > > > > > > > > care > > > > > > > > > > > > > > choices. Guest guest
I do drive but sometimess I have problems driving. About 30 miles is my limit. My next choice for Dx would be Boston about 150 miles from me. Since I would have to stop meds Dr grim says for 6 weeks I would have to be close to the treating Dr. during that time. As I would be doing this out side of the VA. I would frist have to apply for free or reduced care at one of the Boston medical centers. Hopelul one that can deal with Conn's. As I have found out not many places that deal with Conn's. > > > > > > > > I had brain fog literally till the day after my surgery. It was the first > > > > thing I noticed that was gone. Guest guest
You health has a lot to do with your genes. My father lived to almost 98. About age 90 his mind started going but body was still strong. He ate a lot of salt pork and lard sandwiches. His Blood presure was never high. Guest guest
I am working on getting my family history together. I have 8 sisters and 3 brothers. Some have high blood pressure. At least one has low blood pressure. My mother had High blood pressure but also was bi-poler. Some meds can cause increase in B/P. I have one sister that is dashing so far no b/P meds. Most have weight problems as well. > > > > > > > > Agree. Guest guest
One of my interests is If adenomas them selves are heredity. Not that they all cause the same problems. Since there seems to be a link between depression and adenomas and there is a history of depression and other mental illness in family can the cause be adenomas. > > > > > > > > > > > > Agree. Guest guest
There seems to a lot of information on Pheochromocytomas runing in familes. To me the 80% on non functioning adenomas seem to high. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Agree. Guest guest
The question is how much salt is to much. Or what is the right amount each one of us needs. We do x amount of salt. Both to little and to much will kill us. It has been over 90 Deg F here for close to a month. I belive I am loseing more salt and potassium then when it is 0 deg F. > > > > > > > FrancisBill, > > > > > > > > I was reading your email and wanted to tell you I am sorry you > > have > > > > to deal with such dismissive doctoring. Guest guest
I don't always check the email I set up for this site better to email me at frankbill@.... I find it much easier to post and read on group site. since most of the time you can read Dr Grims posting with out opening email saves time. I also haven't used the Cl strips. Do think you can get them any place that sell pool supplies check Walmart. You can get urine test kits on line also most drug stores should have them. > > > > > > > > > FrancisBill, > > > > > > > > > > I was reading your email and wanted to tell you I am sorry you > > > have > > > > > to deal with such dismissive doctoring. Guest guest
When I went to Dartmouth the first time I asked about being tested on the meds. Was told nothing I was taking wound change the results. Again the results of that test. RENIN ACTIVITY .8 no range given ALDOSTERONE-MAYO 5.5 range <=21 > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > And they have not read my article. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Remind me if you have ever been tired on > > > > spiro. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
This test may indicate early PA but because of meds could be stage 3 or 4. Also BP readings that have been as high 199/100 K drop from 4.3 to 3.2 after being started 25 MG of HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE Dizziness Fatigue Tachycardia shortness of breath. Of course by the Dartmouth Dr say I don't have PA anyway. I can provide Email addresses of any Dartmouth Dr If you like. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > And they have not read my article. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Remind me if you have ever been > > tired on > > > > > > spiro. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
I will tell you about trying to get through the VA system later. What I hope to show is some of the reasons it is so hard to get the DX of PA. One thing is the PRA ratio is a flawed system for many. It is time update how this test is done and come up with a better ratio. Many so called experts have no clue what PA is or does. Even if test shows you have PA Dr have no clue what meds to give. Going to the top medical centers isn't any better then any other medical centers. Well there are a few medical centers that you have a very good chance of getting the Dx Those that should be educateing us about PA for some reason don't seen to do it. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > And they have not read my article. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Remind me if you have ever been > > > > tired on > > > > > > > > spiro. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
We have see people come and go. Some go because Information given on this site doesn't match what they read in other places. Some have listes Sx that match PA but since there test numbers don't intercate to there Dr they have PA. They think they have something else. Most think they have cushing. As Dr Grim says most don't have to be tested to know they have cushing. From what I have read there are less people that have cushing then PA yet Dr will test for cushing before they test for PA. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > And they have not read my article. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Remind me if you have ever been > > > > > tired on > > > > > > > > > spiro. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >

Guest guest
But it seems to be always listed before PA on sites related to adrenal adenoma. In fact Cushing will be listed but not PA. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > And they have not read my article. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Remind me if you have ever been > > > > > > > tired on > > > > > > > > > > > spiro. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
Since the job my nephew has at the VA involves contact with health care providers He has some idea on who are the better ones are.
