Guest guest
46 members of this group diagnosed with Conn's took our survey. We know from that survey that of these 46 people: 78% had poorly controlled HPTN despite multiple meds 65% had to get up one or more times per night to pee 61% had unexplained tiredness or lethargy despite sleeping well at night 59% had brain fog or feeling of confusion 59% had unexplained feelings of anxiety 57% had muscle weakness 57% had heart palpitations or irregular heart beat 54% had headaches 50% had muscle cramps tremors or twitches 46% had numbness or tingling of extremeties 39% had episodes of unexplained sweating/flushing/feeling hot 35% had unexplained thirst 26% had unexplained chest pain 13% had a metallic taste in mouth Some of these complaints are objective but some are subjective. How could we attribute the subjective complaints to PA without knowing what percentage of people without PA have the same complaint? Not many in group have full time brain fog many have it sometimes. I do have it all the time. Have been asked to describe it. Something I really can't can't put in words to make other understand. Of course it has nothing to do with Conn's. >> I had brain fog literally till the day after my surgery. It was the first> thing I noticed that was gone. Yes Dr. I have the sick as hell anemia. Yes Dr. I have ferocious of the liver.I cant balance the check book, I am so week I have to roll out of bed in the AM and roll over to the wall and push back and slide up it to get up.I am so weak I have to use two hands to turn the car on.CE Grim MDDr. Grim, try this:Do you feel cloudy in your head? Having a hard time performing everyday activities? Do you have difficulty concentrating? Does your brain have a "stoned" sensation? Do you feel a bit woozy? Is it hard to perform detailed tasks or remember things? Do you suffer from short term memory loss?Do you feel like you are looking into a window where everyone is enjoying life, but you...oh, no, there I go getting all metaphoric...Seriously, the 1st paragraph seems to be the best I can come up with. How many articles has he published about PA?As an Internist he should have seen lots of patients with this should have recognized them as well.If you are satisfied with him then don't ask for a second opinion. If you are not satisfied then ask for a second opinion or tell him you don't feel normal.CE Grim MD On Jul 17, 2010, at 3:00 PM, Francis Bill SUSPECTED PA wrote:Information on VA Chief of StaffDr. Parrino holds a B.S. from Carroll (1967), MD from town (1971), MBA from University of St. , MN (2003), and an honorary MA from Brown University (1992). Guest guest
Agree. Otherwise we would need to test all 70+ million with HTN. Best to reserve it for those who do not do well on meds or have low K.CE Grim MDTesting everyone for Conn's does not sound like a viable, cost-effective option to me, but that's not my point. Guest guest
Are you on spiro yet?CE Grim MDThat is me, and I finally have a small relief from pain today and am trying to catch up on my reading here in the group. I do have the database started, got the initial files that Dr. Grim sent, and am going to have time this weekend to start inputting data. Any information, questions, etc, that need to be in this, please send them to my email address singlemomx2 (at) gmail (dot) com. I'll work to get it input as I can. When possible, excel spreadsheets are ideal as I can often upload these direclty to a database with a little tweaking so quicker. As for the pain after AVS, still having it, mainly in the right flank area. Hospital was not much help, told me it "wasn't normal for that kind of pain to be associated with AVS". Ugghh! Primary doctor was not able to help much as she is not familiar with the procedure and was not the one to order it (endo was). Endo has to wait for insurance (HMO) approval before he can see me, so I have yet to see him. But hopefully this coming week. I do have some relief this morning, but seems to be because I took a vicoden last night due to pain being so severe and I was unable to sleep. Slept 12 hours once I took it! Primary Dr. has officially placed me on part-time disability as of last week, since between the extreme fatigue, brain fog and constant dizziness, I am just not able to spend a full day on my job and haven't since June 1. I don't have a physically strenous job, but mentally strenous as a web developer/marketing manager. My fellow employees and managers have even noted the change in me over the last year. Thankfully my employer is patient and willing to work with me on my hours, and I don't have to worry about my job.> > > >>> >> > > >>> > FrancisBill,> > > >>> >> > > >>> > I was reading your email and wanted to tell you I am sorry > > you have to> > > >>> deal> > > >>> > with such dismissive doctoring. Guest guest
Clasicaly it is the unilateral tumor and is cured by taking it out -- but he also described bilateral problems as well. Also suggested in may account fo 20% of HTN and was laughed at. Indeed I got interested in the problem even more when he made this suggestion-so I decided I would proven him wrong. Never have been able to do it.CE Grim MDIs Conn's the same name for PA...or is it just called Conn's if you have an adrenal tumor?? Re: Re: If you have limited income not much help for dx 46 members of this group diagnosed with Conn's took our survey. We know from that survey that of these 46 people: 78% had poorly controlled HPTN despite multiple meds65% had to get up one or more times per night to pee61% had unexplained tiredness or lethargy despite sleeping well at night 59% had brain fog or feeling of confusion 59% had unexplained feelings of anxiety 57% had muscle weakness 57% had heart palpitations or irregular heart beat 54% had headaches50% had muscle cramps tremors or twitches 46% had numbness or tingling of extremeties 39% had episodes of unexplained sweating/flushing/feeling hot 35% had unexplained thirst 26% had unexplained chest pain 13% had a metallic taste in mouth Some of these complaints are objective but some are subjective. Guest guest
I suspect it occurs in only some areas of the brain, not all, eg, remembering or feeling you hafta pee/defecate, or sleep, or eat, or remembering to take your medications? Regards. Re: Re: If you have limited income not much help for dx And it needs to be tested off all drugs and on a high Na diet and collect a 24 hr urine for Na, K and aldo to bring in the day of the PA/PRA testing. Guest guest
My wife insists our(mine and hers) health is due to not what we eat, but what we DON'T eat. How do we test that? Regards Re: If you have limited income not much help for dx I would think if you wanted to know if those the don't have Pa have the same Sx as those that do would need to test all in survey. > > > >> > > > 46 members of this group diagnosed with Conn's took> > > our survey. Guest guest
Yes. The American Heart Assoc. Needs a reminder of the guidelines that Conn's should be suspected n tested for when high BP is diagnosedsent from blackberrySender: hyperaldosteronism Date: Sun, 18 Jul 2010 13:06:50 -0000To: <hyperaldosteronism >ReplyTo: hyperaldosteronism Subject: Re: If you have limited income not much help for dx If as what I belive and what you say is true. That either medical schools are not teaching how to DX PA or that med students are skipping classes on PA. How do we fix this problem?Do we try to get the Medical schools to change how they teach about Conn's?I am not a big fan of sueing Dr. Sometime it has to be done. Is this what it is going to take?Do we go to all the states and request that for a Dr be licensed in there state they have to know how to test for Conn's?Do we go to places like the American Heart Association and request that they educate everyone on Conn's? > > > > > > > > > > > >> > > > > > > > > > > > > If you have limited funds then you are limited > > as to> > > > > > > health> > > > > > > > > care> > > > > > > > > > > > > choices.
