From what I can see, UK tests for Clostridium Diff nornally involve stool tests for toxin A or toxin B. Am not certain that the Paed will not accept the metabolite as a marker for C Diff - will find out when she comes to visit. My problem is rather with the medics not acknowledging that Clostridium Diff in the gut is problematic. Their line is 'everyone has Clostridia in their gut and it does no harm'....of course, we know they are talking about folk with normal gut flora and without leaky gut. It is getting them to accept that C Diff in the gut is a problem that is the difficulty. If they will not accept the test and you are sure about the Clostridium dificile could you ask them to do their own test?
