I just ordered Afterburn online. Just so I can be mentally prepped,

can anyone give me their thoughts on Afterburn particularly as it

compares to BFL?

Thanks!

Thanks so much! That was a great review!

I'm under a lot of stress lately (Mom appears to be fading fast into

Alzheimer's, FIL has prostate cancer, husband just semiretired and seems to be

EVERYWHERE ALL THE TIME!..but I do love him.) and I'm just in a mood to really

go

super intense. Afterburn sounds like just the plan for me! </HTML>

So, , will you be doing Afterburn II? : )

Here's a review I did of Afterburn:

http://skwigg.tripod.com/blog/index.blog?entry_id=1604382

It's similar to BFL in that it begins with two strength workouts that you

alternate three non-consecutive days a week.

Like:

Mon - workout #1

Wed - workout #2

Fri - workout #1

Mon - workout #2

Wed - workout #1

Fri - workout #2

Keep repeating.

You also do three HIIT cardio sessions a week. You can do them on the

non-strength training days, or immediately after the strength workouts, or

later on the same day. He just doesn't want you doing intense cardio before

weights.

Since my first review, I've talked to quite a few people who do the

Afterburn workouts without following the nutrition, which involves a lot of

calorie-counting and zero cheating. Some people just stick with BFL for the

nutrition. I do Berardi's Precision Nutrition. Effective nutrition

programs have a whole lot in common. Any way you look at it, you're going to

be eating every couple of hours and focusing on lean protein, fresh fruits

and vegetables and healthy fat. So don't be too alarmed by all the math and

the lack of a free day or cheat meal in Afterburn. If you can go that

hardcore, good for you. If just reading it makes you want pie, modify it as

necessary. As long as you're eating well and coming up with a consistent

calorie deficit, you'll be pleased with the fat loss.

Also, the workouts are going to look deceptively simple at first. Do not be

fooled. LOL Some of those moves are killers. Pay attention to the suggested

tempo because he gets meaner about it as time goes on. Like you may have a

3-4 second lowering phase and then an explosive move back to the start. I

like that every exercise can be made easier for a beginner or torture for

someone more advanced. I've had good results with it.

I love Afterburn, so I'll definitely be doing Afterburn II. (I wish I'd

bought both of them at the same time!) I may not go straight into the second

one though, because I have a real urge to check out Turbulence Training as

well. I may do a few months of that and then save Afterburn II for my

post-holiday recovery plan. :-)
