Re: Going to Europe - food and supplements at customs

I think security a bit more relaxed now but what they are strict about

on airplanes is liquids. Nothing more than 100ml in hand luggage, even

if you have an opened 150ml bottle with less than 100ml they can

confiscate, although they have yet to do it to me. I am not aware of

restrictions bringing food into Europe (unlike the USA no food at

all) and supplements generally go in suitcase. Just a warning on one

trip I had carefully pre measured all the powders required for trip

into tupperware containers and hand wrote the labels (wanted to save

space) I had a hassle at customs explaining the various powders and

capsules. So keeping them in their own containers would be less hassle.

Have a good trip

Dear Zoe

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news (unless someone has said this already!!, not finished reading all the posts.....) Its a bit strict at the moment because of all the Foot and Mouth. Saying that we are off to Norway next week and will take food in the suitcase as usual and just hope for the best. Hope you are lucky too.....

Lotsa Luv Caroline

---Hi Zoe

We've taken meat abroad, packed in suitcase, with no problems (other

than the airline leaving behind one of our cases, thankfully not the

one with the meat in!) Also taken nut flour etc, again no problems. I

know you can't take meat and lots of other foods into the USA but I

think Europe is ok. We took a letter from our DAN explaining why we

needed food and supps but haven't had to produce it yet.

Have a good trip! x

I

think it’s just meat into the UK that’s the

problem. Not 100% sure.

you may want to check destination country regulation re bringing in food

in larger quantities, though don't thing there would be problems with a

kilo or two of nutflours etc.

we have not had problems with handlaguage, you can take all sups with

you in the cabin it is just larger liquid bottles that may be a problem

- again depends on the airport and who is sitting behind that x-ray

machine! if you have any liquid sups that come like that pack them well

and put them in laguage.

we usually make two bottles of juice mixed in with enzymes and sups for

that day and take on board with us, as long as the bottles are of the

children/toddler beaker type no one asks any questions. the type of

bottle used for school lunches have also been fine for us.
