Guest guest
I have heard tattoos on the ribcage are THE most painful. I don't have one there, although I am waiting to lose some weight to get one. Part of the delay is that everybody, including our tattoo artist keeps telling me how painful it is. The other is that I don't want it to look all saggy and deflated after I lose weight. I have seen old men who have lost muscle mass and elasticity in their skin with tats on their backs that don't look so hot. I would think it would be a similar experience. Then again, I have a friend who has a tattoo on her lower abdomen and she just delivered her baby. It stretched some when she was pregnant, but it looks as great as ever just a few weeks postpartum. I am chiming in with the " I want to know " . Sheila wrote: I've looked in the archives today and saw some amazing before and after pictures. I'm looking at the end of my second week and I have a tattoo question. I've been promising myself a tattoo when I reached a certain goal. I've been working toward it for six months and will be there in a week or so. My question. If you have a tattoo on your torso, how has it changed with weight loss? I'm looking at losing at least 30 more pounds and wonder how that will change the tattoo. I'm getting it put on my ribcage, under my right breast. -- Sheila http://coffeeandshoes.com/ I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult. - EB White
Guest guest
> I have heard tattoos on the ribcage are THE most painful. Any part of your body which has little to no fat or muscle underneath can be be painful when getting inked (think boney parts like your neck/collarbone/ribs/shin areas). Definately not for those people who have low pain thresholds. Depending on design, color and size, tattoos can be rather expensive (and dont forget they really are permanent) so I would recommend waiting till you lose the weight you want to (as a reward perhaps) - you wouldnt want it to possibly look deflate/wrinkled (quite like a logo on a deflated ballon) .. more info here: http://tattoo.about.com/od/tatfaq/a/weight_flux.htm Be informed before you get a tattoo: http://www.howstuffworks.com/tattoo.htm joni

Guest guest
Sheila I don't have a tattoo but if I was going to get one and since it is a permanent thing I would wait til I lost all the weight you wanted first. But I would set out some other incentives for yourself while you work on the last 30 pounds to keep you motivated. This of course is just what I would do and congrats on reaching your goal! Keep up the good work! Michele T.
Guest guest
I'd say it depends on the size and design. I doubt that 30 lbs will distort a tattoo THAT much, unless you're carrying most of your extra weight in that area. And as long as you're not losing it so fast that loose skin might be an issue, I think it would be ok. Sheila wrote: I've looked in the archives today and saw some amazing before and after pictures.
