Guest guest
One reason I rarely recommend thyroid surgery. 2 of the pts I sent to surgery in Ann Arbor with the best surgeon in the world for thyroid that that problem. One also had vocal cord paralysis.Think you need to be being seen by a VERY experienced Endo person. Where do you live? CE Grim MDI had a total thyroidectomy in 2008; this destroyed my parathyroid glands. I now have to take large amounts of calcium citrate, plus rocaltrol everyday to stay alive.Immediately after surgery was the first time my potassium had ever dropped critically low. I was never able to stabilize it after that.> >> > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > "My sodium is QUITE low according to my labs; I feel like cutting my > > > > sodium by 50% would be asking for more trouble."> > > "are you talking about blood or urine Na? Guest guest
I feel best when my TSH is 1.38. These labs do not reflect optimal thyroid treatment. I start getting hypothyroid symptoms(hairloss, puffy eyes, cold extremities, anxiety and profound depression) when my TSH go above 2.0, at that time my FreeT3 levels will begin to drop below normal. My doctor is still trying to optimize my treatment, as my body is not responding to the typical Synthroid(T4) treatment. > > > > > > > Medications: > > > > ~Synthroid 125 mcg > > > > ~cytomel 10 mcg > > > > > > > > > >

Guest guest
I am so traumatized over the loss of my thyroid. It was needless, and now I am paying for it. Guest guest
You can cycle with cushing's and have high periods and low ones...its not as rare as they say. Its just very hard to diagnosed with high and low's if you cycle with cushing's . Guest guest
,I know dealing with thyroid issues can be very frustrating! I have been dealing with Thyroid Hormone Resistance for awhile but I think your situation is more complicated!I wanted to give you a link to a yahoo support group that I truly believe can make a difference to your situation. There are people on the group just like you who have no thyroid. Actually there are all kinds of different "issues". (cancer, nodules, hypo,etc)Http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/naturalthyroidhormones/If this doesn't work let me know. One other thing about your post that jumped out at me was that you are on Synthyroid. What I have learned is that most people don't do well on Synthyroid. Most people do better on NatureThyroid or WestThyroid. You can google those and do your own research. Armour used to be a really good thyroid med but they recently reformulated it and most people are not doing well with it.SuzanneSent from my iPad I am so traumatized over the loss of my thyroid. Guest guest
Hi Suzanne, I am on the Yahoo thyroid groups already---RT3, NTHAdrenals, Thyroidless, and thyroid Support groups, specifically. I actually posted on one of your threads. I have a prescription for ERFA, I have not filled it yet. Since it seems as though I have some sort of adrenal problem, I am hesitant to start ERFA until we know exactly what kind of adrenal problem we are dealing with. I have posted in the adrenal group, but was unable to get any advice since they mainly deal with low adrenal hormones, and I have excessive cortisol and excessive aldosterone. So things are pretty complicated adrenal-wise, and I am suffering hypothyroid on top of that, and trying to act like I'm normal. It's not working too well. Thanks for your input, though! Good luck with your aldosterone! > > , > > I know dealing with thyroid issues can be very frustrating! I was finally able to get in with an endo in my hometown, and she is the only one who has expressed a desire to look further into things, hence the recent testing.> > > >> > > >> > > >> > > >> > > >> > > >> > > >> > > >> > > >> > > >> > > >> > > >> > > >> > > > >> > > > "My sodium is QUITE low according to my labs; I feel like > > cutting my> > > > > > sodium by 50% would be asking for more trouble."> > > > > "are you talking about blood or urine Na? Guest guest
I only know about it as my best friend had it. She did have symptoms but only bloated belly up by one size and her face was bloated and she had chronic acne, apart from that she wasn't big at all.In between she had to go back and they didn't believe she had cushings in a different hospital until she showed them a photo..Everyone's different though!! You just need to find a good consultant who you can explain what's wrong and they listen.....Its taken me a long time but I've found one Sent using BlackBerry® from OrangeSender: hyperaldosteronism Date: Sun, 31 Oct 2010 19:53:51 -0000To: <hyperaldosteronism >ReplyTo: hyperaldosteronism Subject: Re: Conn's without high BP? Sounds like I need more extensive cortisol testing.>> You can cycle with cushing's and have high periods and low ones...its not as rare as they say. Guest guest
I guess cyclical Cushing's could be potential diagnosis. It sonds like a lot of work to uncover. I just don't have the energy for all this. It's so frustrating. > > > > You can cycle with cushing's and have high periods and low ones...its not as rare as they say. Guest guest
I give up. I just don't get it. I cut my sodium intake as suggested, because of high aldosterone, and results of urine sodium. Been about 5 days low sodium. I am now sick and dizzy again, with a bad headache and thirst, and my BP has spiked again to 130/80. Also just found out that the lab never sent my 24 hour urine test from a month ago to my endocrinologist. I've been sitting here feeling like crud for three weeks wondering why she never got back to me! > > > > > > You can cycle with cushing's and have high periods and low ones...its not as rare as they say. Guest guest
I would not consider 130/80 a spike.Tell your Endo to communicate with her lab is she is going to take care of you.CE Grim MDI give up. Guest guest
I guess for the general public that would not be a 'spike', so I will correct myself and say a rise in blood pressure. Every time I feel dizzy with a bad headache, my blood pressure has risen 30-40 points over it's usual 90/60. I guess that's not even borderline high, but my body can't tolerate it for some reason. All my life I've had 90/60 or below(think it's genetic-- my whole family is low BP). If one were to have a 'normal' BP reading of say 115/80, and it rose 30-40 points to 155/100, would that be a 'spike' ? Just curious. I hope my doctor calls me soon, I left a message today. Whatever the diagnosis ends up being, I will report back to this thread in case anyone is curious about my unusual symptoms. > > > > > > > > > > You can cycle with cushing's and have high periods and low > > ones...its not as rare as they say. Guest guest
Recommend you write down what you think your BP is before you take it. This will tell us (you) if you perception of a high blood pressure or Sx there of are accurate. Most will find they cannot tell what their BP is.CE Grim MDI guess for the general public that would not be a 'spike', so I will correct myself and say a rise in blood pressure. Guest guest
I have done this. From what I have learned, most people are unaware that their blood pressure has risen. I cannot understand why I am so sensitive to a rise in my BP. I have noticed that the pattern is when it rises. To 115 I start getting slightly dizzy. If it has risen over 121 I start to get a bad headache that starts at the beck of my neck and then just goes up my whole head. There is no relief from this headache--- aspirin, advil, Tylenol, or even migraine medication will not relieve it. Only wheny BP starts dropping below 110 does it start easing. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > You can cycle with cushing's and have high periods and low > > > > ones...its not as rare as they say. Guest guest
BP varies from beat to beat.Get the Hypertension Primer and read about the complexities of BP control may help you understand the process which may or may not help the Sx.CE Grim MDI have done this. From what I have learned, most people are unaware that their blood pressure has risen.I cannot understand why I am so sensitive to a rise in my BP.I have noticed that the pattern is when it rises.
