Guest guest
These are my theories--- Is my sodium too low to balance out aldosterone, making is rise? OR, do I no longer need the whopping 140 meq of potassium that I am taking, and my aldosterone is rising to try and dump it? I'm sure I probably need SOME potassium, but 140 meq is VERY high. I take 80 meq in the AM, and 60 MEQ in the PM. Nobody is really ordering regular labs to track potassium needs, so I wonder? > > > > Don't tell us high or low. > > > > We need to see the numbers and the normals for that lab. > > What was the renin? > > > > CE Grim, MD >

Guest guest
My sodium is QUITE low according to my labs; I feel like cutting my sodium by 50% would be asking for more trouble. Things just don't add up here!!! Yes, it is correct that extra salt pushes my BP DOWN. I did find several links on the web saying that sodium can suppress aldosterone in some circumstances. I just haven't had a doctor tell me this...yet. I was on a low sodium diet to begin with(simply because I eat whole foods and don't add salt). Could my whole problem be that I have always had a low sodium diet??? And maybe this is screwing with K? No doctor has ever asked me about my diet. I feel so ill that I am losing hours at work, and I need answers. I am becoming so sick that I am not going to be able to hold onto the job that provides me with my health insurance!! I feel like it is something VERY simple and it is being overlooked. Thank you, > > > > > > > > Don't tell us high or low. > > > > > > > > We need to see the numbers and the normals for that lab. > > > > What was the renin? > > > > > > > > CE Grim, MD > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
This is what I would think was not right. 24 hour Cortisol 77.9(4-50) This could be Cushings. > > > > > > > > > > Don't tell us high or low. > > > > > > > > > > We need to see the numbers and the normals for that lab. > > > > > What was the renin? > > > > > > > > > > CE Grim, MD > > > > > > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
None of this adds up. I agree that my labs could point towards Cushings, and many of my symptoms as well. But..... I have NONE of the physical traits of Cushings, such as 'moon face' and abdominal weight gain. I am actually losing weight. At 5'4 " and 105 lbs I look nothing like a Cushing's patient. Maybe all the labs need to be rerun. > > > > > > > > > > > > Don't tell us high or low. > > > > > > > > > > > > We need to see the numbers and the normals for that lab. > > > > > > What was the renin? > > > > > > > > > > > > CE Grim, MD > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >

Guest guest
My sodium is QUITE low according to my labs; I feel like cutting my sodium by 50% would be asking for more trouble.are you talking about blood or urine Na? Be specific.Things just don't add up here!!!Yes, it is correct that extra salt pushes my BP DOWN. Interesting but rare.I did find several links on the web saying that sodium can suppress aldosterone in some circumstances. It always suppresses aldo.I just haven't had a doctor tell me this...yet.I was on a low sodium diet to begin with(simply because I eat whole foods and don't add salt). The only way to tell is to measure the Na in your urine.Could my whole problem be that I have always had a low sodium diet???And maybe this is screwing with K?By screwing with I dont know what you mean. Be more specific. No doctor has ever asked me about my diet.Welcome to the crowd. He has learned from experience that almost no one changes so why waste the time.I feel so ill that I am losing hours at work, and I need answers.Ask the correct questions of your Dr and us. He cannot tell how you feel.I am becoming so sick that I am not going to be able to hold onto the job that provides me with my health insurance!!Time to get some answers it would seem.I feel like it is something VERY simple and it is being overlooked.Give us the exact details. Thank you,

Guest guest
I would look at every thing you pot in your mouth and see if thing interacts with anything. From drugs.com calcium citrate Before taking this medication, tell your doctor if you have: a history of kidney stones; or a parathyroid gland disorder. If you have any of these conditions, you may not be able to take calcium citrate, or you may need a dose adjustment or special tests during treatment. From http://www.bing.com/health/article/goldstandard-1500081033/Calcium-Citrate-Oral-\ tablet?q=calcium+citrate & FORM=FFF What may interact with this medicine? •digoxin •other calcium products •phenytoin •some antibiotics like ciprofloxacin, doxycycline, gatifloxacin, tetracycline •strontium 89 chloride •sucralfate •thyroid hormones > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > " My sodium is QUITE low according to my labs; I feel like cutting my > > > sodium by 50% would be asking for more trouble. Guest guest
Your blood Na is not "quite low" as it is in the normal range.Low would be say 120 or 110. May be normal for you. Each body regulates Na very closely but at a different set pt in each person for reasons we do not understand.CE Grim MDOn Oct 30, 2010, at 5:08 PM, Francis Bill SUSPECTED PA wrote:I would look at every thing you pot in your mouth and see if thing interacts with anything. Guest guest
I had a total thyroidectomy in 2008; this destroyed my parathyroid glands. I now have to take large amounts of calcium citrate, plus rocaltrol everyday to stay alive. Immediately after surgery was the first time my potassium had ever dropped critically low. I was never able to stabilize it after that. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > " My sodium is QUITE low according to my labs; I feel like cutting my > > > > sodium by 50% would be asking for more trouble.
