Guest guest
My toes are beginning to contract and cause alot of pain. I went to a Podiatrist and he said there wasn't anthing he could do for me because my toes twitch. If he attempts to strap them down, I would have even more pain. I wear AFOs on both legs and tennis shoes are more comfortable for me. When I was younger, I use to be embarrased to wear tennis shoes with a skirt but now, I'm not worrying what others think. Those are my toes, and I love them!
Guest guest
Donna, I agree with you all the way. In my family our toes are called " shrimp toes " LOL. Ya just gotta laugh about some of it. I too HATE my feet and I see all my friends in their flip flops and toe rings but when that gets me down I just remind myself I can walk, run a bit and I am a healthy woman with a lot of blessings and it puts it in perspective for me. Now, having said all that I too always make sure that my feet are well groomed with nails always painted and I am a big fan of tanning cream on my feet and legs. I know this sounds silly but I just feel the cream makes my legs AND feet look better, takes away the white pink unhealthy look my feet have going on. I give my youngest daughter a buck or 2 for a foot massage and a nail painting sometimes too, she loves to do it and shes getting pretty good at it too. lol There also is the option of water shoes if you really want to hide them. I met my new husband with these feet and I remember the first time I took my socks off in front of him, it took some time but when I did I told him that my kids call them shrimp toes he laughed a bit then start talking about something on TV. I thought for sure he was gonna be grossed out but he really could have cared less. I think there are more men out there like that then there are that would say yuck and run away plus who would want that kinda guy in their life anyway, right? Guest guest
Donna: We here in the Colonies had a President named Abraham Lincoln who once averred that as long as legs touch the ground they are okay. I think he would say the same about feet. I think of my feet the same as an ugly car -- when I am in it I can't see it. -- Larry
Guest guest
Good Morning All! 90% of the time--tennis shoes are what I wear. I finally found a pair of men's sandals that are wide enough in the strap to wear with my AFO if I want something more dressy (HA!) than tennis shoes. Women's shoes are made for AFOs! I also wear the little swim shoes to the pool/beach. I can't stand to walk barefoot--my feet are much toooooo tender plus I don't have to worry about slipping and falling! Nobody really notices my cramped toes. Jane
Guest guest
My feet are also extremely tender. I can never go barefoot outside, it is completely impossible. 95% of the time I wear tennis shoes. I wish I could wear others, but tennis shoes are the most comfortable for me. I have HNPP and my feet are also like those of you with CMT. At least we are all in the same boat, I guess. Missy
