I've tried climbing the stairs to my basement repeatedly but that gets really boring after not too long... maybe with some good music it wouldn't. Then again, most days it seems like I run up and down the stairs repeatedly anyway with or without music doing laundry and whatever else. It is definitely too cold for me to walk outside now. I'm willing to do 50 degrees but not 30 (usually with wind too). With the 8"-15" of snow coming our way tomorrow too (they can't make up their minds but they are expecting blizzard conditions and lots of snow) I don't see myself walking outside at all for a while except to shovel snow ( a workout in itself).

You know you're taking away all my left over excuses for not working out on days I'm running around like a crazed person. And tomorrow when I'm snowed in (will be decorating the tree and the house then though). I've though about doing upper body workouts with my jeans on and said, nah... just 'cause it seemed too inconvenient and less comfortable. I might just have to try though, there really isn't any reason why I can't. My jeans are close fitting but I could probably manage pilates... darn... now I'll really feel guilty when I have more than an hour at home between errands/work/appointments and I'm spending most of it on the couch! :-)

/ the clothes dilemma

, I totally hear you on the clothes thang! One of the reasons I turned to home workout videos as opposed doing exclusively gym classes is because I got tired of lugging this huge gym bag to and from work, the gym, to the bus and back. I don't own a vehicle, and it is a nuisance for me to shlep this 15 lb bag in addition to my 8lb purse, although admittedly this is a shoulder workout in and of itself :)At work I bring my own food (saves $ and calories this way) and eat at my desk. I often walk during my lunch hour and you'd be surprised what you can fit in in an hour! I realize that where you live it is freezing right now and a long walk outside might not be a possibility, but I also like to do flights of stairs which works both cardio and strength. In your jeans you could probably do mat pilates if the jeans weren't too tight, and you wouldn't get stinky from that either. You could also do upper body with weights in your jeans. Easier said than done, I know..

Guilt! Guilt! Guilt! <shakes finger at >JUST KIDDING! :) If you need a break, by all means take one! Some days it's just hard to get motivated. Getting there is 99% of it. If you look at clothes, yes it's a bother, but how long does it really take? 5 minutes max to undress and redress? After 1/2 hour of exercise I feel *much* better. But you know that. Blanks says on one of his tapes, "Don't wait for motivation to

exercise, because you aren't always motivated. Sometimes you have to tap into your higher power and ask for strength". Of course I'm paraphrasing a bit but I really admire for adding a spiritual component to exercising. Hugs!nancydewolf wrote: I've tried

If I get into my exercise clothes first thing in the morning, which I normally do, I get my workout in but if I don't, those extra 2-5 minutes, plus being cold this of year while I'm changing and before I get the blood flowing with the exercise, really puts me off. I think I do much better with this clothes thing when it is warm outside. We try to keep our thermostat pretty low to save on fuel costs too so I'm layered up pretty good. I agree with and maybe I'll use that to move me more when I don't want to. I like him a lot, just wish I could even slightly keep up with his workouts! :-)

Bob Greene, Oprah's personal trainer was once asked by someone how to get motivation to exercise. He said that in the beginning you have to force yourself to do it, then later on the motivation will come.... Jen Pink Pussycat wrote: Guilt! Guilt! It isn't so much lack of motivation to exercise as it is lack of motivation to change out of warm clothes in cold air into summer type clothes and then wait to get warm again. I absolutely hate being cold. That's my biggest problem! I'm fine if I dress to workout first thing in the morning though.

Me too, . Most days I kick around in yoga pants, though, so I can get on the tmill for an extra 10 mins without too much trouble - just have to put on my runners. Doesn't mean I do it, but at least it's a possibility for me. LOL

That was me yesterday and I didn't quite make it (too much going on with the kids home and no closed off workout space). I ended up putting on jeans to go out grocery shopping but when I went to get ready for bed I still had my workout shirt on under my sweatshirt!
