Guest guest
Cheryl, I have to tell you that sound incredibly positive despite the glitch at school and the busyness of the day! You are awesome!!! That would be great if you could do one AM and one PM both for your sanity and also to have time with each one separately. I loved it when my son went to school and I had my daughter at home still but then I missed one on one time with him and had to work harder to make it happen. Good for you getting anything in today too! I'm not so good. My kids start tomorrow so today was pick up a few school supplies I'd forgotten to get, try on DD's dance shoes and realize she's grown a lot over the summer and her tap and ballet shoes are too small so go to the dance studio to get more shoes, grocery shop and do other errands. However, I also took the time out to take them to the park with the big wooden play structures and let them just run wild for a while (not too long, we were around 90 degrees here too and it quickly became not so much fun) then we walked over to the nearby Dairy Queen and let them each get their first ever Blizzards (small). I'm pretty tight on treats and especially totally outright ridiculously unhealthy treats so they were super surprised and excited when I said yes when they asked if they could each get one. They both loved them and it was fun watching them enjoy them so much. I am proud to say I didn't get anything even though the Peanut Buster Parfait was calling my name. I haven't had one of those in years. I took a small taste of each of their Blizzards though and decided I really wasn't missing anything after all (I'm not a fan of soft serve ice cream anyway). The rest of the day was spent packing backpacks, planning possible lunches and snacks (made a list of both and put it on the fridge for easy reference, did the same with breakfasts to try and make that more varied too, thank you Carolyn for this idea), getting homework areas ready and stocked and just enjoying being together. I even managed to make a really nice dinner. But, I did not get my workout done. Sigh. We were done with dinner at 7 and I couldn't even consider working out until at least 8 and by then it was bedtime preparations and all that and I just said, forget it. I didn't want to do cardio or even yoga at 8:45 (the time they were finally in their rooms). They have a half day tomorrow so I don't have a ton of time alone but I'm planning to do Get Ripped as soon as the bus leaves and might do 15 minutes of step with Kari (Go) for some cardio and as a warm-up. I don't see myself adding on abs or yoga though. I always like to have a sweet treat ready when the kids come home on their first day of school (though they never remember that I do that and are always surprised each year, maybe by the time they're in high school they'll look forward to it) so I also need some time to bake cookies before they come home. No time in the evening either because then we have the annual school picnic/open house/curriculum night madness. It is more important to me that I at least stick with all or most of my planned Jari workouts and most of the cardio/abs/yoga. I'll try to workout Saturday (which I'd planned for rest) as a makeup day though. I feel like I'm babbling and I've definitely hijacked Cheryl's post at this point! Off to bed soon, gotta start the day early and smiling (the smiling will come after breakfast & a diet coke though, I get up 1/2 hour before I get the kids up just so I can be semi cheerful when I get them up)! :-) today I was trying to get caught up on old posts today, but it was pretty busy. Connor started kindergarten today and he was very cooperative this morning, but not when he got home. I found out tonight that the preschool class I had signed up my 4 year old for is not actually the class he got placed in, some sort of glitch on their end, they even sent me the paperwork saying he was in it and everything but the teacher didn't have him listed for that class. So I'm hoping tomorrow I can get everything straightened out...Had it so that I could take both my boys to school and pick them up at almost the same time. But I'm hoping in the end everything will work out because based on today, I'm thinking it is best to have my oldest in am and the youngest in pm.Off to do 20 minutes of Yoga Journal's bend and twist beginning practice. Was not able to get in my cardio today as planned.

Guest guest
Unfortunately I have year round allergies so I take meds daily, but today I added mucinexD to the mix and that really helped out with the weird sinus headaches I've been getting...fall and spring are my worst times of the year and mold really flares up the allergies and asthma for both me and my 5 year old. He's been to school 2 days this week and already has a runny nose...not sure how much of that is allergies vs a cold. During the school year, he seems to come down with something every 3 weeks or so, and then by the time he passes it on to everyone, then it all starts over again. My allergist had me get a pnuemonia vaccine last year because I was getting sinus infections every 4-6 weeks. I'm not sure if that helped or the green tea I started drinking late last winter, but I've got to start drinking several cups of green tea a day again so I can stay healthy:) > > finished get ripped this morning > > yay!! ::high five:: !!!! > :*carolyn. > ps: sorry about the allergies... i get them too and know how > crappy they can make you feel. can you take something for them? >
Guest guest
so I did get ripped again today, some tracks seemed a bit harder probably because I did ripped yesterday as well and was feeling it today. So next week I should be able to stay on MWF ripped schedule. next week is supposed to be S & L and hopefully I'm up to it.

Guest guest
I know I'll have to drop from using a 20lb bar to 15 for chest. It has been awhile since I did S & L, but typically didn't have a problem with it because I used to do body pump 3x week but haven't done weights in the last couple months. I'll probably use Jari as a guide for weights and go from there. I know for biceps that is my weakest area and have to go considerably less there. > > next week is supposed to be S & L and hopefully I'm up to it. > > do what you can and modify the rest!! also S & L might require > that you use much lighter weights so be aware of that. if you > like i can post my starting weights for monday for S & L so you can > get an idea (in comparison to the ending weights that i use for > 'ripped' today). > :*c. >
Guest guest
Sorry your allergies are bothering you! I wish I had some kind of excuse for why my balance was so off today but I was falling all over the place during the lunges! I noticed though that I can do front lunges without much problem, it is the back ones that get me. Maybe because I can't see what I'm doing?? Anyway, I hope you feel better fast! No one can tell me what it is so far. All the doctors order 10 tests and do a 20 minute exam and say there is nothing wrong with me. The joint pain gets worse quickly with movement, and if the joint is used several times in a day, it will stiffen and swell slightly. It gets bad enough that I have a hard time getting dressed and tying my shoes. It usually affects my elbows, wrists, and fingers. Occasionally my hips will hurt, but the pain is different than it is in my arms. The condition comes and goes. It flares up if I am active for more than ten hours a week. When it flares, the joint pain starts and I am so tired that it is hard to get out of bed. The only thing that makes it better is to do absolutely nothing for two to three months. Additionally, I have genetic vitamin B1 deficiency/genetic beriberi, but it is not supposed to cause that kind of joint pain and I am in treatment for it. I used to work in archaeology. I used to hike and swim. I can't do anything anymore, and it is getting to me. Thank you, Jo
