Guest guest
I've seen people on the Biggest Loser using the treadmill 'pulse grip' bar to do pull-ups - at least, I think that is what they are doing. A modified version, but still the right idea, correct? I have yet to try it on my tmill, but I should, just to see if I could do even one. :-) We have a doorway by our kitchen that my 16 yo boy uses for pull-ups, just for fun. He was showing off yesterday, and did about 6 of them! He's just a hundred pounds (slight builds run in my family) , but all wiry muscle. I asked my husband if he thought he could do a pull-up, and he gamely tried - got about half-way up. LOL I politely declined. :-) in rainy Ontario -----Original Message-----From: exercisevideos [mailto:exercisevideos ]On Behalf Of nancydewolf This totally cracked me up! It sounds like you're coming around on Tony! He drives me a little nuts sometimes but I think he's hilarious. When you get a solution to the pullup bar problem please let me know (besides the machine anyway). I don't know where I could put one in either. Not sure how the bands work for this so I'm not sure how I'd do that. (Yes, this set is on my list of things I want sooner or later... probably later though.) Have fun with that boxing class, how cool!!

I'll have to try this when I get home this afternoon. Waaay back when, in college, I took a weight training class and they had me and the only other girl doing modified pullups with a bar mounted very low, like this. I could do a few then... now... we shall see! I tried yesterday when I passed under my pullup bar, and while I'm still nowhere near success, at least I was able to pull myself up far enough that my feet *just* left the floor. Better than I could do several months ago, when I had to use a chair to do even that much! > We have a doorway by our kitchen that my 16 yo boy uses for pull-ups, just > for fun. Guest guest
Alright, I finally have to ask, how you do "pullups" from a treadmill? The "pulse grip" bar is that bar in front you can use to stabilize yourself right (and I know it has grips that measure your heart rate if you hold them right)? Guest guest
If I'm picturing this as intends, you lay on the treadmill deck (machine off, of course! LOL, sorry, I know you're not stupid, but as soon as I typed that I got this " Funniest Home Videos " moment in my head!). Reach up and grab the bar, and pull your chest up to it, sorta like doing a reverse bench press. Come to that, I suppose you could do the same thing on a bench with a barbell, if the weights are heavy enough not to shift, and the uprights far enough apart. HTH! Guest guest
Yup, that's how they do it on BL. Haven't had a chance to slow down long enough to clear away all the... ahem... crap... my husband has piled on and around the treadmill since we've not been using it this winter. Maybe this weekend, since I hope to reclaim at least half my home workout space. A friend of mine has lost her Y scholarship, and has nowhere else to work out, so I offered my equipment for the duration. And, my Y time will be up soon, too. I'll let you know how it goes, though!
